After 800+ hands, I finally had a winning session of 3/6. $78 in 2 hours. Right before I quit my KK ran into AA on an unthreatening board.
Just glad to know it can be done! Big confidence boost. Made another $50 on a 2/4 table at the same time. Had a good weekend of poker altogether. I had been playing 3-4 tables of 2/4 at a time, but I think I'll start playing one 3/6 and one 2/4 for the time being. Had much better reads on the players and could use my gametime windows in PT alot easier. I'll hopefully work up to two tables of 6 but that's going to be my limit for a while. I feel like I play better.

Are you typically a losing player? I would have never guessed that based on the quality of your posts...

No, I'm not a losing player. However, my limit has been 2/4 for a while. After a $2000 profit month in 2/4 for November, I tried to move up to 3/6.
Was feeling invincible, and inevitably, hit my first bad streak ever (have been serious for 6 months of so). I dropped $500 or so my first 15 hours and went scurrying back to 2/4. Had a bad run for a little over a month following that and haven't had the guts to climb back up to 3/6. Finally decided to climb back in the ring and hope to stay there for good. This was the first time I walked away a winner from 3/6, but not due to my play. Decisions not results.

I think you may be going to the cookie jar. I mean, if you were consistently making money in $2/4, why move up to $3/6? Making 2K a month, hell I'd be ecstatic with that amount. I would stay put where I dominate IMO. I played .50/1.00 or even .25/.50 for months and months, and am just now moving up to 1/2, and I don't see myself moving up for a very long time. I watched at these limits for a while to get a feel and I find that, this weekend anyway, I played ultra-aggressive. But if I ever was able to pocket 2K a month, that would be the end of my moving up in limits IMO. Hell, that pays a mortgage and then some.

To answer your first question: To make more money!
Also, that 2k month wasn't every month. Just that month in particular. In my short experience in 3/6, I've noticed some really tight play. Yesterday, 7 out of 9 peoople I was playing against were seeing the flop 15% of the time or less. You just don't see this on 2/4, ever. Ultra-aggressive is the way to play in these games. I saw a guy yesterday, who was just going nuts, raising and reraising with anything, ANYTHING, pre and post flop. He was getting people out and showing Q6 os with no pairs and shit. Finally, one guy got pissed and played him to the river with anything. Basically, he paid for information for the rest of us. The Maniac was up close to $400 in two hours playing at this table. He did pay me off however. I almost made a post late last night while playing so some of you could take a look at this guy. Craziest player I've ever seen. While I'm not saying his play would be a winner in the long run, (it won't) it showed me what can be done with aggressive play against a tight table at these levels. I loosened up, started making some middle position raises with middle pairs, or even QJos at the right times and was able to steal the blinds a lot, which can add up. Much tighter play at this level.

See, this is exactly why I stick to the lower limits. Tighter table = less money IMO. Playing at $1/2, everyone was taking flops and when I was button with a decent hand I was raising and re-raising constantly. I was also more focused on buying real estate by raising in late position and stealing the button. That would also open up the opportunity for a free card post-flop if I didn't hit. I wish I always had that mindset at the table, but sometimes I still get brain cramps. I guess I should just be content making decent money, but you're right, you always want to make more I guess. Human nature.

I have found that the 3/6 games at the Bad Beat Jackpot tables at Party Poker stay somewhat looser than other 3/6 games. I have had limited sessions on those, so maybe i need a bigger sampler size. Anyone else seeing this trend? I am pretty sure i have read posts on here that people feel that the BBJ tables are looser in general.
