Dead Man's Hand is actually two pair - Aces and Eights. Not just A8, like many people often suggest.

That depends. Some people think the shooting happened after he discarded and before he drew his fifth card.
Of course, Deadwood the show and Deadwood the place have the 9 as the fifth card. The more you know.
