Well, the thing with me is that a lot of the tournies I play in are smaller guaranteed purses with an overlay, so if the extra X people aren't adding to the pool, I don't want them anyway. I do see your point in general.

Lou, I can't say I disagree with your point of view and that was actually in the back of my mind when I asked the question.
Recently I cashed in more and more tourney's, but they have all been small cashes (first or second level payout) and I couldn't decide if I was playing badly once I got in the money or playing badly approaching the money, still am not sure to be honest. I know withinn 10-15 players of the bubble I am still lacking, but I think I get into a "go for broke" mentality once I get in the money.

actually, tho you shouldnt be looking just to get ITM, I think it's totally fine to look for tournies like you are. You are gaining EV by finding tournaments with a higher % of people being paid out. I don't see how it could be a bad practice.
