Pedro is a small power pitcher... thats why he breaks down. Clemens on the other hand is a big texan and works out year round... He could pitch another 3-4 yrs if he wanted to.

The Mets are not going to be a 60 win team. And you act like one year of guaranteed money is a little thing, an extra year and an extra $16 million is quite a lot. I would've been upset if the Mets had offered 4 years 48-50 million or 3 years 45 million and Pedro had taken it, because those are within the realm of him being able to reasonably take a home town discount. But when the offer is by far superior then you can't really blame him for taking it. The Mets overpaid, Pedro got a great deal, the Sox got outbid by a GM who was clearly willing to overpay, it worked out for both sides.

I'm not saying 16 mil. isnt alot. Of course noone would say that. but he had it made in boston. You had the latin connection, the fans love him, etc. etc. but whats going to happen when he does something silly and all of NY goes apeshit on him. He's not going to handle it well. In boston everyone kind of lets Manny and Pedro off the hook. Hey its just Manny being Manny etc. The Mets will not be a very good team for the next few years. You can tell me all you want about who they added etc, but they're the Mets afterall. He had a chance to stay in Boston, and compete for the Series every year. I just dont get it. Of course I know I have never had, and never will have this type of dilemma, but I honestly think he made the wrong decision, for many different reasons. Of course we are all greatful for the great, amazing years Pedro gave us. We all wish him the best. And we can all hope he blows his arm out for good as well, lol.
