1993, Phillies vs. Blue Jays. I was at Game 4 at the Vet - the one that ended up being the highest scoring game in World Series history (15-14), thanks to "Wild Thing" Mitch Williams completely blowing it for the Phils in the 8th.
The tv room in my dorm was packed (or so I heard), watching the game on the big screen. Every time John Kruk would step up to the plate, everyone would quiet down until they heard my blow my airhorn - my signal saying hello to everyone. Then they would go nuts. Of course, stupid Kruk ended up going 0 for 5. Maybe I should have picked someone else for my signal - like good ol juiced up Lenny Dykstra, who had 2 homers, a double and even stole a base. Despite the Phils losing, it was still an awesome game, and one that I will remember forever. |

I was at the NLCS Game 6 that year, also at the Vet ... the one where the Fightin's clinched the pennant. It's the one and only postseason game in any sport that I've ever attended. I hope I can go again one day ...

Dude, haven't you ever seen the interview he did a few years later about that game? He said that some airhorn kept blowing right before his atbats and it used to throw him out of sync. It's, appearently, one thing he can't deal with when he's getting ready to step in against a pitcher.
That's crazy that it was actually you. [Totally kidding]

haha...
I was also at one of the NLCS games that year... I think it was Game 1, but I don't remember. What I do remember was Shilling striking out the first 5 batters to start the game. THAT was something. |
