what is stopping them from just saying screw you guys? I mean I dont think the big sites would do this but if you have youre money in a small site you better get it out ASAP seeing as I see them just closing accounts and saying screw you all.

I mean obviously our goverment dont give a shit why should they?

Taken from the message boards at PocketFives.com:

Hi folks -
Obviously, there are many unanswered questions at this point - we'll let you know more as time progresses.

However, there are three important things that we can tell you right now:

1. Your money is completely safe at PokerStars. It's kept in a segregated account at one of the largest banks in Europe.

2. You do, and will, have 24/7 access to your account funds. You will always be able to get to your money.

3. We have not made a decision one way or another as regards closing our American accounts.

The other thing that I can promise is that we'll keep the lines of communication open to forums such as these. Stay tuned.

Best regards,
Lee Jones

Default Wow

The one thing I never anticipated was that the sites themselves would cave. I thought since this would take ages to litigate, it would be business as usual while the process went on.

Unless this is all a carefully orchestrated move to get US-based casino giants in position to re-start the industry once the offshore competition has been locked out.

Hmmmmm. The little conspiracy-theorist inside me is wondering.....

meanwhile, I guess I'll be spending some more time at Foxwoods.

If you guys really have a problem getting your money cashed out, could always transfer to a Euro or Canadian on this site. We could then withdraw, cash the cheques, and mail it to you. Of course, this would cost a hefty penny since we'd be double-converting your funds (US-->CDN), then (CDN-->US) on your end.

I don't think Stars would screw you over, they have many Americas supporting and promoting their site. Party, on the other hand, I could see doing this.

Did you actually read what Lee Jones said? They haven't made any decisions yet.
