Wow, this went from "Tiger Wins!!!" to "What the hell is a reverse pivot" while also venturing into "18 holes with a putter"
How do you putt 200+ yards?! ![]()

Club speed.

Ideally your wieght should shift, as you start your backswing, to your back foot and then move to your foreward foot as you swing to and through the ball. In the photos your head is WELL behind the ball as you approach it and then your head is above your back foot in the finish photo.
This means that too much weight is on your front foot as you make your backswing and thus can't be rushing foreward, costing you distance, and most likely shifting a bit from front to back, thus the term "reverse pivot". Next time you are swinging a club take a full shot and hold your finish position then see if you can lift your back foot completely off the ground without shifting any more weight foreward, if you can't then too much weight is on your back foot and not shifting foreward during your downswing, again costing you distance. In the fisnish photo for your head to be as far back as it is I would say a lot of weight still has to be on your back foot as your head is ALWAYS the center of balance, even as you simply walk around, thus your head should be directly over your front foot as the swing is completed.

Yeah, my swing is fine. First, and this doesn't much matter, but those two photos were from two different swings. Secondly and more importantly, note the angle of the camera vs. how I am standing. The camera is not directly in front of me. It's at least 3 to 4 feet behind me center, which I suspect is what is causing the optical illusion.
I shift my weight properly during a swing. I could very easily lift that back foot if I wanted to after I finish, including the swing in the photo above - you just can't tell because of the angle of the camera. |

And in other news ...
TP, you may want to take a look at this. It's Negreanu's blog. Check out the second entry (about 29 grafs in from the top of the page).

You're right.... I SHOULD start playing Negreanu for money! His reverse pivot sounds a hell of a lot worse than mine.
![]() $600k in the hole??? Wowzers. I wonder what it's like to have THAT much money that he can donk off over a half million on the golf course. |
