He's at 6100 with about two hours left to play today. I just got him to text me. He says he was as low as 3400. He also mentioned something about losing a 25K pot. Apparently, he texted Robbie Robb a while back, but that might have come after RR went to bed. TP said the story could wait. I guess he wants to tell it himself.

They say the day you get knocked out of the WSOP Main Event is the worst day of the year. I don't think it's quite THAT bad, but it is a pretty sucky feeling.

Yup, I'm out. I made it until the last hour of play for the day, but with a short stack and increasing blinds, I had to start pressing a little bit. Eventually, I got busted.

All in all, I feel like I played great, with the exception of one possible hand. I sent Robbie all sorts of updates about it (it was a SICK hand), but I see none ever made it here. Who goes to bed at 9 PM PT? Pffffttt! I played for 5 hours after that!

Anyway, I did keep a log of all interesting hands, and I will post them all later, but for now, here's an update to say I'm out. And I'm ok with it. I outlasted almost 2/3 of the field, and like I said, I feel like I played great. There were a couple of times where (in Hellmuth's words) "I was supposed to go broke here" and I didn't. That one big second best hand really clobbered me. I won't type it all up now, but basically, the board was QQQTK and I had AK. They way it played out, it would have been difficult for me to not lose a lot of chips there. I know I played it wrong, but I'm not even sure where really.... It was just a bad hand, and yes, it was for a $25k pot. Losing that knocked me down to 6kish, and I fought with that stack for like 3 more hours, but eventually busted.

More details later. Thanks to everyone for all the support - sorry I couldn't come through with a better finish.

You know, Robbie's updates were much better.

Sucks it didn't work out, but look at the bright side, Full Tilt is already running satellites to the 07 Main Event!

There's always next year. Hopefully, if I put my man-suit on and win a satellite, we can swap a percentage.

Enjoy the rest of your time in Vegas!

Oh well. Like everyone has said, as long as you are happy about your play, that's all you can do.

As well, it was great railing you from afar, especially since neither Rob or I made it to the WSOP.

A few interesting stats from my head (I can confirm these later when I go through my notebook):

Number of sets I flopped today: 0
Number of times I was dealt AA: 4 (including 3 in the span of about 15 hands - won blinds twice and small-medium pots the other two times)
Number of times I had KK: 1 (lost a big pot with it)
Number of time I had AK: I'm not sure, bit it was definitely a big loser for me on the day.
Number of times I had QQ, JJ, TT, 99 combined: 1 (I picked up the blinds with JJ once)
Number of showdowns I was involved in, NOT counting the hand that knocked me out: 4.
Number of those where I had the nuts when the money went in: 2.
Number where I had the nuts on the flop and the turn, and had to make a big (correct) call on the river after a flush draw completed: 1.
Number of showdowns that I lost (not counting my final hand): 1 - for $25,000 chips!!!

Hmmm... what else? Oh, the hand that eventually knocked me out: With only 4200 or so chips left, I pushed in from the CO with Jd9d. The BB called with ATo. The flop came Txx with one diamond. The turn was the 7d, giving me 15 outs headed to the river: three Js, four 8s, and 8 other diamonds..... a non diamond 3 hit the river and that was that. Had I gotten lucky there, I would have been up to a much healthier 9k+ stack... still not great, but at least something to work with.

Lots of other interesting hands to write about later. I should get some sleep though first.

Good Job TP-we were are hoping for the fantasy to come true, but really all that you can control is your play and if you are happy with your play then that is all anyone can ask for. You made us proud!!! I can't wait to read more about your day.

And good jorb Robbie with the updates. Don't let the hate get you down, there is no shame in going to bed. Around here we say that sleep is the new sex because we value it that much.

The most important outcome is that you were happy with the way you played. I'd be willing to bet any amount of money that there are many people out there, sitting in their hotel rooms, or out getting drunk that are purely disgusted with themselves for the way they played.

Oh, and it was 9:23 Vegas time when I went to bed. Not 9:00!

I've been debating on if I should play in tomorrow's $1000 WSOP Event or just stick to the cash games, etc. It starts at 11 AM - ugh.

Then I realized this is the exact event that I finished 6th last year (the defending champ is the guy who won my Final Table), so I HAVE to play. I need to final table it again!

Guess I'll have to make tonight an early night.

Quick update from Vegas. Im on a cpu at the internet cafe since i have no labtop with me. Cash games been running good for me, I WAS 7 for 7 until earlier today when I dropped $200 on a quick session. As TP said Im pushing 5k net, which is always nice.

My boy got knocked out today. He started the day at 20k took a hit down to 12k and was dealt AKs. MP opened the 300/600 blinds for 2100 and he pushed. MP called with 44.

Flop came Q J x, giving him 4 additional outs.

Turn came a 4

River.... 4

Ohwell, maybe next year.

I am still debating on playing event 40 (1k buy in tomorrow), the starting chips at 1000 and 25/25 blinds bothers me though.

Raise standard and it's 10% of your stack!

Raise 100 with AK get a caller, miss and CB for 150 thenget raised and fold, you lost 25% of your chips!

Im gunna decide in the next few hours.

Thats it for now.

Quick update, as I need to get some sleep...

I went over to the Rio tonight and found out that tomorrow's tourney is being capped at 1100 players. 100 tables, 11 handed (yuck), no alternates. There were 860 or so players registered at the time and they were running sattys... seemed there would be plenty of time left to register. I played two $175 satellites (winner gets $1500 in tourney chips + $120 in cash). On the first one, after folding for the entire first level, I limped in fromt the button after like 4 callers with 64. Yes, 64. The flop came 964. EP bets, MP calls, fold to me, and I raise to 3x+ the bet. EP thinks and pushes, MP folds, I call. He shows 78 (as I expected), and naturally hits the T on the turn for his straight. So much or being a 2:1 favorite. I got busted a couple of hands later.

Second satellite, EP raise (bad player), MP call, I come over the top with AQs, EP folds, MP thinks and pushes in. I am 100% certain he is weak (hence him not reraising the first time around), so I quickly call. Instead of him showing me AJ or so like I was hoping, he shows me 22 - this is one of the worst plays in poker, IMO, and I still see it all so often. He is ahead of NOTHING. Anyhoo, he flops a 2 and I'm cripled again. I double up a bit later and then built my stack into somethng reasonable.... We get down to like 4 or 5 handed, and the blinds are huge, so I push in from the CO with 56s. I get a call from the SB who has AQ. No worries! The flop comes A77 with one club. The turn is a club. The river is........ a club!!! The dealer literally pushes the pot to me and everyone is talking about the flush, and just before the dealer mucks the board, I notice something and push the pot to my opponent. The river was actually the 7c, giving him a full house. No one saw it but me, and while they all commended me for being a class act, I was busted, so I shook hands and left. I'd never feel right taking that pot though.

Anyway, I decided to go sit in a cash game for a little while. I turned my $500 stack into about $800 in the first orbit or two. I stopped by the cage to see how many spots were left for the tourney, and the girl told me 50ish! Yikes!!! I called Zy and told him to get oer here (he was going to play AND bring me money, so I could leave mine on the table), and he JUST MADE IT. It took him a while to show up, and there were less than 10 seats left when we got registered. We're both sitting in 11 seats tomorrow - oh goody. But, at least we are playing. The tourney structue isn't the best early, so here's hoping for a good start.

Oh, I went and played in my cash game some more, worked my stack as high as $1050 or so, and then doubled some dude up when we both flopped two pair on a KQ8 flop. I had K8 (BB, no preflop raise) and he had KQ (and he and he was short stacked)... not much you can do there. I left a $420 or so winner, nearly winning back what I dropped last night, thanks to the KK vs AA fiasco.

Ok, that's all. Time for sleep and then domination tomorrow.

I heard that the earlier $1000 buy-in tourneys were actually starting with 1500 chips. Is this not the case with these events?

I heard that too... and I've seen sheets that say 1000 and others that say 1500. Most people (staff) seem to agree that it will be 1000 though. I'll know soon enough.
