So set up a fake hotmail account, install AIM, have the draft, and then uninstall it if you hate it so much. As for the "clunky" interface...

IT couldn't get much simpler, could it?

The chat room thing is still an option (I haven't had a chance to look into this yeat), but I personally think AIM would be just as easy.
