Yeah, I'm aware that I played it OKAY, but certainly not PERFECTLY, or even anywhere near GOOD.

I actually thought he might have a smallish pair, possibly one giving him a set. I'd previously seen him re-raise with pocket 9's when the flop came AK6. I was willing to pay to see whether he had 88 or 77, even if the 77 beat me.

Does the Ace on the river not improve my hand because at the same time as I have three OAK, his set could have just turned into a full house?

For the second hand, I agree capping pre-flop was a mistake, although I didn't see it until now. Capping on the river - which pshabi pointed out as well - I knew immediately was a mistake, even before he showed his flush.

Don't get me wrong.... I was never suggesting folding. I was just suggesting saving a few bets for the times that you are beat, like if he in fact had the 77 you put him on.

I'm not sure I know what "OAK" means... but the Ace on the river didn't improve your hand, because, well, it didn't. If you were outkicked to a bigger Ace, you atill are. If you were up against a set, you are still losing. If he had a straight or a flush (not for this particular hand, but the idea in general), you are still losing. In other words, the only way this Ace helped you is if he had 2 pair without an Ace (67, 69, 79), and you now made trips to beat him. Think about it. Anything else he could be holding, you're either still ahead or still behind.

Ah, "three "Of A Kind" - I get it. Yeah, just call that "trips."
