Okay,
I agree with everyone saying that neither Grossman or Orton is amazing out there, but even at that, Grossman is the best the bears have seen in a long long time. And the biggest problem with last night was that the bears defense did not play like they did all season. Even in '85, MacMahon was not exactly amazing either, they were known for their defense. If the bears were to get a decent QB, and have a decent offense, they really could be amazing. |

Wildcard,
I started watching the Bears about week 4 of that '85 season. I was 8 years old, a second grader at Union Center Elementary. I remember a good bit of those games even now, and I always thought the same thing about McMahon. This Christmas, I got the complete season (yes, every game) on DVD and have been watching them. McMahon was fucking great that year. He was All-Pro and led the league in passing rating through the first 1/3 of the season at least. That's as far as I got. He was a gunslinger and a competitor. One play, he went headfirst into two linebackers diving to get a first down on a scramble. One of the guys came in kind of late and the punky QB just gets up and spikes him with the ball. LOL. His play is like when Favre gets rollin and is taking chances and making big throws. The only difference is McMahon couldn't sustain it for more than that season. Favre is a god damned ironman and Jimmy Mac was glass baby.
