My day has been pretty annoying. Poker-wise, anyway. Atlantis rules

The tourney started at noon, and bdawg has hovered around the starting 10k mark all day. He was down to 7200ish at one point and up in the 11 or 12k range too. That;s more than a lot of people can say. The last time I walked past Daniel Negreanu, he was pushing in for his remaining 1500 chips (the blinds are 300-600 now).

Anyway, I decided to play in a some cash games. I wanted 2/4 NL, but the 5/10 opened up first, so I figured, why not? I bought in for $600, and promptly lost in with KK. I reloaded for another $600 and promptly lost it, ALSO with KK (not 5 minutes later). I bought in for $600 more, and guess what? This time it was with QQ, at least. All three hands had me pushing in with an overpair, and not once did I actually have the best hand when the money went in. You've gotta love that. Am I a donkey? Am I unlucky? Maybe a bit of both, if you ask me.

Hand #1: 2 callers in front of me, so I bump it to $60, figuring that will be enough. SEVEN people take the flop of T97. Not a bad flop for my hand, but pretty scary. It checks to the player to my right who bets $300 of the $500 or so he has left in front of him. I put him on a draw, but think I have the best hand, so I push in for my remaining $485, hoping to take him heads up with me having the lead. What I wasn't expecting was one of the EP checkers to call as well. He turned over T7 and the better turned over 88. A 6 came on the turn and the 88 tripled up. This guy (the 88) is a very solid player, btw, and I wasn't surprised to see a MOUNTAIN of hips sitting in front of him when I walked by a bit ago.

Hand #2: This time I have the KK in the BB. One limper and the SB completes. We had been joking about how you needed to make a big raise to get anyone to fold, so I jacked it up $50 more. The limper called and the SB folded. Hey - at least I got it down to HU. The flop comes 789 - same deal as before, pretty much. I bet $100 and he min raises me to $200. Sure, he could have JT, but I think MHIG, so I call. I even check the blank turn to him (I'll give him his free card) and he bets again. This time I check raise all in, and he calls an turns over T6. Yes, that's right - T6. I have to admit, I didn't see that coming.

Hand #3. That same donk limps and the donk to his left raises to $30 (he raised a LOT with junk), so I reraised to $90 with my QQ. One other players called and Donk #2 (the raiser) called as well, after MUCH thought - I knew he had his usual junk. The flop comes 889. I say "that's a good flop for my hand" and they check to me. I bet $300 of the $305 I have left in front of me, saying I wanted to save $5 so I could fold in case I got check raised. The caller folds and Donk #2 calls. He turns over J8. W... T..... F....???

So long $1800.

I know I could have gotten off those or played them differently - more OR less aggressively preflop - whatever.... but for God's sake... I have to think KK vs T7/88, T6, and QQ vs. J8 are good matchups for me. Must I get outflopped on ALL OF THEM? *sigh*

Signing up for today's $30 tourney was a mess (I can explain later), but it starts in a few minutes, and I THINK I'm going to get it, so I need to bolt. Here's hoping my luck changes a bit, ASAP... but I'm not holding my breath.

P.S. My connection (from the room) sucks ass... hopefully this will go through.

I don't think he wants me to say, so I won't. That will be up to him to reveal, if he chooses to do so... Plus, he's out anyway

I wrote that just before 6:00... just got back now.

First, bdawg is out. I haven't seen him since he busted, and I think he's probably regretting how he played his final hand. A mid position player made a standard raise to 1800 (300/600 blinds) and bdawg pushed in from the BB for over 10k with AQ. The guy thought forever and finally called with AK and it held up. He had 20some thousand, so it ws about half of his stack to call.

Meanwhile, my tourney was interesting. I decided to splash around a lot in the beginning (25-25 blinds to start), and doubled myself up with a bunch of small pots in no time. I had an above average stack for a long time until two interesting hands came up. In one of them, a good player raised from LP and I called from the BB with 77. You know how much I "love" 77. The flop came down 955, and I checked (thinking I had the best hand). He surprised me with a check behind me. The turn was a 4, and put 3 diamonds on the board. One of my 7s was a diamond, btw. I decided to fire out a nice sized be here and he went into the tank. After thinking for a while, he pushed in. I was pretty sure he had high cards, like AJ or AT with a diamond, bu then I talked myself out of it and really thought he had TT with a diamond for some reason. Maybe 88 with a diamond. I couldn't figure out why he checked the flop with eiher of those hands though, but I knew if I called and he did have one of those hands, I'd be in really bad shape. I had him outchipped, but decided to fold anyway. He told me later he had AJ with the Ad. Eh.... I folded the best hand, but he had a LOT of outs.

Not much later, an EP donkey limped in (I saw this guy LIMP-RERAISE all in with AQo, ATs, and I think 44 or something equally insane - and he kept winning, even when he was getting in against AK with his AT (he made a flush), etc. I saw AKs and wanted to isolate (and hopefully set him up to reraise all in on me), so I made a healthy reraise. Well, the BB pushed in. Donk thinks for a minute and CALLS. Dammit. I put the BB on a pair, but not AA or KK and the donl could have anything, but I was hoping I had him dominated. I decided to call. The BB had 88 and the donk had JTo (????). The flop brought a Jack... and an 8 of course.... and I didn't get the runner runner straight I called for. This put a huge dent in my stack, and all of a siddne I was short.

I hung on forever, picking up a couple of pots here and there, but with the blinds and antes, my stack was headed south. After losing yet another coinflip, the dealer started pushing my stack to the other player, and I said "Hold up. Count that." The table all though he had me covered too, but I said "Settle down. I've got him." I had 275 chips left After posting my 75 chip ante the next hand, I went all in with KQ (the best hand I had seen in ages) and actualy doubled up (and then some) against A3. Then my A8 held up against 22, and before I knew it, I was over 4000 chips again. When I was down to 200 (1/2 of a B), there were 28 players left and only 20 made the money.

I ended up bubbling, but not in the 21 spot. I finished 11th (one spot off the final table and a money increase). All in all, I can't complain. $485 gross on a $300 buy in. It's nothing compared to the mess from earlier today, but it felt good to play well in a tourney. Tomorrow is a $500...

I'm starving, so that's all for now.

Aw, that's too bad! I missed the middle post at first, and thought he was just out of the $100 SNG.

Enjoy the rest of the Bahamas now the pressure's off, Dawg!

I'm in the lobby right now... this is insane. There are at lest a dozen other laptops, all with people playing online poker. The best part is that people are railing each other. JohnnyBax just got a round of pplause when he took down a tourney, "leggy" made $9000 in tourneys right here today, P0ker H0, SassyTexas, Shawn Rice, etc, etc - all here. Not to mention a bunch of people I don't really know.

Oh, and that Daniel Negreanu guy is sitting right there (*looks 25 feet in 1:00 direction*) playing what looks to me to be Gin Rummy with someone I don't recognize.

Freaking crazy, isn't it?

One thing I may not have mentioned yet - we all have meal plans included with our stay. Breakfast, lunch and dinner... $50 buffets, nice restaurants - Appetizer, Salad, Main Course, Desert all included. Are you kidding me? If I ONLY gain 10 pounds by the time I get home, it will be a miracle.
