Default Alternate idea...

So, here is my idea for a modification of the league...

Option A: total cost to enter all tourneys-$65

1) 10 events over 8-12 weeks.
2) Each event has a buyin and there for a prize pool. (For example say $5+.50 per event)
3) Each player also puts in a League entry fee. (For example say $10) (This goes to TP via Pokerstars transfer prior to first event.
4) Winner of each event is entered into final tourney for free (out of the League entry prize pool)
5) Final tourney is a money tourney that anyone can buy into (amount based on the number of players entered into the league).

Example
15 league members

event #1
10 people show up.
$50 prize pool (distributed based on normal PokerStars payout structure)
1st place gets entry into main event

event #2
6 people show up.
$30 prize pool (distributed based on normal PokerStars payout structure)
1st place gets entry into main event.

etc, etc

At the end there would be at most 10 players in the final event.
Each got the buyin and fee transferred to them on PokerStars by TP.
Anyone who gets 1st place in more than one would get event still gets another buyin+fee for the main event.

So, for the example, there would be $150 in leauge entry money, so the final event would be $10+$1 ($110 in prize buyins) and the other $40 (or wahtever is extra) would be distributed to the players with the 1st, 2nd and third points as follows:

First Place = 3 points
Second Place = 2 points
Third place = 1 point

ALSO, the main event is an open tourney (at least to TP), so if you didn't win an event (or could not get in because you didn't join the league before the first event started) and still want to play, you can put up the $10+$1 to buy in directly.

Payouts in the main event are standard PokerStars payout structure.

So, say there are 25 people in the league, the final could be $20+$2 and still have $30 left over for the point leaders. Down the road the final might grow to $100+$10 if we can get 110 people in this someday!!

OPTION B: total cost to enter all tourneys-$50

1) 10 events over 8-12 weeks.
2) All events are private freerolls (obviously with strict requirements).
3) $50 is up fron t league entry fee to TP at PokerStars transfer.
4) NO RAKE!
5) Winner of each event is given an entry fee (via pokerstars transfer) for the buyin to the main event.
6) Final tourney is a money tourney that anyone can buy into (amount based on the number of players entered into the league).

The rest is the same ....

Those are my thoughts, not saying it has to be done that way, just another angle on it...

Also, I do like the idea (N1kita's) to have players pick alternates if they can not play (in either the points league or OPTION B above). Option A would not work with that since you would wither have to give someone your account or transfer them money which is just asking for trouble.

Just wondering if we were planning on a larger buy in main event at like the very end, like $5 and $10 and then like $40 or $50 ME?

Well, scroll back to the description I posted but, If we do it that way the league entry fee has to be wnough to cover the main event buyins for each of the 1st place finishers in the individual events . So There would need to be quite a few people or a higher league entry fee to have $20, $40, $50 main event. I think that would be IDEAL, but I don't think that is likely to happen the first time around.

We need to get a list of EVERYONE that is interested in this together and see where we are.

apologize for the dumb question in advance, but just to make sure i got this straight:

for either plan 1 or 2, one would have to prepay the whole sum ($50 or $65) in order to enroll in the league, correct?

no, Option A is a $10 (for example) league entry and $5 individual event buyins.

I think one would actually keep this running much smoother. I am trying to get a list of all the people who have expressed interest together. That is what might determine what the fees NEED to be to make a reasonable buyin fianl event.

AAll events in OptionA would have buyins and IF someone did sneak in it would not make so much of difference to just skip that person in determining who is in the top place (top three if there is extra prize money for leaderboard point winners)

I think with Option A, I believe you pay an entry fee and then to play in each event and it adds up to $65 and with Option B you just pay $50 up front and the events are all freerolls. But then who would bother with Option A? Have to pay $15 extra because you cant play twice a week?

Also I think with freerolls we will have to be worried about crashers no matter what (ie: posters who join right as the pw is posted and join the tourny or something like that)

I guess I will just wait to see how it is all going down and is figured out before I start sweating over it. Props for setting this up though.
