Trying to answer this question is going to make me confront some foolish myths that I cling to for some reason. For example, I believe that I can sit down in a cash game (either limit or NL) and play tight solid poker and make money most of the time. But the truth is that I tend to loosen up after an hour and start throwing my chips around the table. Some days it's a good thing, usually its not. SNG's are a good source of income for me, but I haven't been playing at stakes that will have an impact on my bankroll. Usually I stick to $5-$20 SNG's and after a day of playing I rarely walk away up more than $60. So, for me, it's been MTT. I enjoy them more (the extra drama of increasing blinds and changing styles is what keeps me playing) and I've been fortunate enough to have a few big cashes that off set losses at live tables. I make a point of playing a lot of direct entry tournaments and have turned a few $5 and $10 buy in's into $300+ wins. The only downside has been that if I have a cold month, very little money comes back into the account and my bankroll shrinks while I wait for a 'good day' (those ones where my good hands holds up, my timing is on, and I get lucky when I need to).
