My new Cashout Concept

I think it's better to set yourself a healthy bankroll for your limit, and cash out every dollar above that every week or fortnight.

E.g. I keep $1,500 online for 5/10 and every week I cash out all money above $1,500. This helps you see the fruits of your labour as well as helping to prevent you from going up to higher limits.

I think the standard 300BB is a bit excessive for winning (!) limit players. Likewise I think that 20-30 buy-ins for NL players (e.g. 4-6k for $1/$2 NL) is far too much.

If your not worried about going bust and are able to reload then it doesn't really matter how much you have to play whatever limit you play. However if you don't want to go bust, then playing with fewer than 20 buy-ins at a shorthanded NL game is crazy and is simply asking to go broke. I can't even imagine being comfortable on those tables when a large portion of my roll could dissapear in one or two hands. But I'm not much of a gambler so to each his own.

What's the problem with moving up in limits?

I think taking whatever you have above the bankroll you need at the limit you are playing out makes sense if you are not planning a move up. But, if you are leaving yourself with 1/3 (or less) of the suggested bankroll online then just know that you might have to put some of it back in simply because of fluctuation in the game.

Also, if you have a point where you want to stop playing (to move back down in limits if things are not going well) then you could take all of it out but that amount so you will have to redeposit before you start to play the lower limit (Concious effort).

Again, this really is only for self-control reassurance factors.

I completely agree that needing 4-6k to play 1/2 NL 6 handed is Extremely excessive IMO. I agree that you need a certain roll to succesfully play at each level but I think 2K-3.5K would be a pretty good price range for 1/2, and i have about 2k now So I think It's pretty acceptable.

The reason I am doing this is Not to avoid tilt or for self control. It was to find a good cashout method, nothing more, I just love guarenteed money over money sitting on pokerstars that could easily be lost.

Does anyone have a better method they think?
I like yours Sjay2k but just looking for other options/ideas.

I think the 300BB rule is plenty. So 600 for 1/2 NL is fine. Maybe 900 for short. I dunno. I also only think you need to buying for 100 in a 1/2 NL limit game. Why bother with 200+? I usually buyin for 2/4 with 150. I do not think this is too little. Hell, 250 for 5/10 is a good guideline too. It gives you enough to recover from the suckouts, and have a decent roll to play with.

As far as checking out. I tend to enjoy tilting. So this time around I want to take some money out as I hit goals. Like take 100 out when I hit 1K, another 200 when I hit 1500.. However, I have a goal of getting my online bankroll to 3K or more and playing alot more 5/10 short. Once I get there I can asses my options and hopefully take out money regularly. I might want to give 10/20 a try too.. who knows.. But for now my goal is 3K and 5/10, with some small cashouts on the way up.

Have you taken too long of a break from poker or something? There's NO WAY 300BB is "plenty" for a NL game. That's 3 buyins, which means no breathing room. And we've gone over the whole "buy in for the max" thing too many times already, but if you're a good player who is confident in your ability to win, why would you buy in for less than the max? This, of course, is assuming you have an adequate bankroll.

No way is that plenty, the BB rule doesnt even really apply to NL, that guideline is for Limit.

I think for $1/2 Short, $25000 is a good solid amount to have. Some people say up to $4000. $600 is Definetely not enought though.
