Bankroll = The amount you have to play poker. (I.E. I have $3,000 that I can afford to lose playing poker)
Buy-in = The amount you sit down with for a given session. I don't know where my bankroll is right now, but let's just say it's more than double the min requirement for my level. However, when I sit down, I buy-in for $150. Do you see the difference? Seriously, we need a filter and anytime Brian uses the word "bankroll" the thread should be deleted.

I think you understand (finally, maybe) the fact that you need X amount of BBs to be "bankrolled' for a game. However, I'm not sure if you understand the reasoning behind it.
Maybe you do. Just realize that you're on a poker forum. That leads me to assume (obviously incorrectly) that people here are serious about their game and are concerned with making decisions that are going to advance their poker "career." I think people find your posts on this subject quite stupid and irritating because we just don't share the same views as you. People around here aren't depositing for entertainment value, they are trying to make money. I don't find losing money to be entertaining.

![]() think you got the wrong Idea about the post shabi, Im not saying take youre whole roll and put it on a game to have fun. I'am saying taking a portion of youre current online roll and putting it a game you arnt bankrolled for to see how you do. Its like when you played 5/10 for the 1st time you were not bankrolled for it but you wanted to see how the game was. Im saying the same thing taking $100 and putting it on 2/4 because you think you can beat the game if you dont then thats fine. |

Now wait, that is different still from what you said earlier.
If you are trying to see if you can beat a game, to possibly make a move up permanently with only $400, you would not know if you were beating the game with $100 of it on the table. The sample size that you would need would be very unlikely to be reached with a $100 investment in 2/4 (unless you get really lucky at the beginning). Even if you busted out (or won big), that wouldn't mean much about the level. In order to "beat a level" you have to be able to beat different combinations of players that play it, not only those at one table on one occasion. |

lets clarify here,
Joe schmo deposits $400 and likes 2/4, its his favorite level at the local casino when he goes to play and dosent want to play anything different. He puts $100 of his current $400 bankroll on the game. Regardless of what happens to that $100 I think this is a ok move. That is all im saying, wanted to know what people thought of him doing this. thats pretty cut and dry, what I said to shabi has nothing to do with my origional post was making point that he played out of his bankroll before. |

I see where my posts kinda go back and forth, didnt meant to do that sorry. I stand by what I said in 1st post. I still dont see a problem with playing above youre bankroll if you like that level. As long as you know you could lose a good portion of youre bankroll in one sitting.

I was bankrolled for it.
I had a little over 3k. I was more skeptical if I could mentally take a 50 BB in stride. I couldn't.
