You're an action junkie.
When you are winning, you are probably playing tighter and thus winning, but getting very bored. Thus making you not feel like playing.
When you are losing, you are playing much looser but having a "high" with all the action you are involved in. Thus making it fun for you.

Am I close?

pretty much, the other day i said to one of my friends, "Playing winning poker is alot more boring than playing losing poker."
Pretty much I'm just learning the game- although i thought i knew it for a long time like alot of people do. I'm really reading into it now and rarely having a losing session anymore, plus i play within my bankroll, which to me is alot more boring. Still, i would much rather be playing the boring poker i am now compared to the crazy dumb poker i used to play, I'm sure once i get a bankroll for the bigger buy-ins it will no longer be boring, i just have to work my way up.

I'm kind of confused...

Wasn't there a thread about two week ago (?) where someone mistakenly called you a newbie ... and you just about freaked out? If I remember correctly, you even had Brian telling you to settle down.

It turns out you are a newbie.
"Pretty much I'm just learning the game..."
and this gem:
"I rarely have a losing session anymore..."

Yeah, that last line was a beauty.

I'm guessing JD won't have to be worrying about being "bored" with a large bankroll for too long.

If you guys ever got around to bonus whoring, your motto would be quite similar to this, something like:
"I NEVER have a losing session anymore".

Ain't that the truth. I haven't had 1 solo losing session since somewhere around April or May.

If you look at it like that, but pokertracker doesn't factor in bonus, it gives you stats and tells you how you are fairing in the actual game your playing.

Once you leave the micro-stakes the bonus isn't as much of a buffer.

At 1/2, a 50BB loss during bonus clearing (assuming full bonus) still leaves you +$100.

At 3/6, that same 50 BB loss during clearing leaves you down $100.

So, you should've said, "if you guys learned to play micro-stakes (again) and bonus clear, you'd never have a losing session."

Then, I still don't think I'd agree with the basic premise of the statement.

Excellent point.

I have counted though, and I don't feel comfortable 4-tabling anything but 0.50/1 (MAX) PL O8. However, I have found that moving into PL has been very beneficial both to my bankroll and to clearing a bonus much faster.

I understand your basic premise though. I guess I'm just looking more into the guaranteed money as of this second since I will be making my first home purchase sometime within the next 3-6 months. Something about home ownership at the age of 24 has a very sexy appeal to me.

I'm with you.... At some point, spending 4 hours to "guarantee" a $12 win seems silly, when that same 4 hours could be spent to earn much, much, much more (in the long run, of course - in any given 4 hour session, I am certainly capable of losing a nich chunk of change).

P.S. See bold above. Either you are getting $200 bonuses somewhere, or.... oh, I see. Did you mean Big BLIND instead of Big BET? Remember, in PT (and most of the time when you see people talk in terms of win rate), BB = Big Bet.

No, no, no. I always mean Big Bets.

Didn't party used to offer up to $200 because I know I deposited 1k a couple times.

They quit that a few months ago and maybe my subconscious mind was hoping the bonii would come back.

You get the point though.

Define "session." Cause I have a really hard time believing that when you sit down at a poker table, you never stand up with less money than you sat with.

Have you played 0.50/1 PL O8, or 0.50/1 limit O8? You think you guys find fish at hold'em tables? You would have a new definition of FISH if you played this game.

It's been quite a long time, believe me. I believe the last time was when I signed up at Interpoker, and that was sometime near the middle of May. I may sit at ONE or maybe TWO tables and lose some money, but the other 2 tables I play will always make up for that.
