I would have to say Dan Harrington would be the best tourney player just by the way he has proven himself over the last 2 years. Best player I like Gus because of his style of play... but who really knows. Maybe Dan was just the luckiest player the last 2 years.

It is tough to argue with any of the names thrown out in this thread so far, but I will have to agree with the original poster. The style of Gus Hansen, along with his unbelievably funny, but effective, facial contortions, make Gus hard to figure out. I remember seeing a special tournament of 10 pros a few weeks back (probably a re-run or something) where Gus knocked out every pro at the table. Each pro stated the same thing during their post-tourney interview... Gus is tough because no one could predict what two cards he is playing this time.
Also on my list would be Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu. I have heard that Chip Reese is the best cash player in the game, but since I don't see those games, it is tough for me to have an unbiased opinion. |

Tourney players I have to say:
Danny Boy (2 WPT wins and 3 WPT final tables this season so far) and Dan Harrington (back to back final tables at the WSOP main event) Cash players I have to say: Chip Reese and Phil Ivey I would also add to the cash list Johnny Chan and Gus Hansen....yes Gus Hansen. Just last week he was playing heads up cash game with Phil Ivey with blinds set at $4000/$8000 and he had a massive lead on Ivey. This happened at the Commerce Casino during the WPT Invitational.

Was there ever a doubt that Negreanu is the best poker player on the planet period. I mean, it also doesn't hurt that he is from the center of the universe right here in the T.O.
