![]() The best quote the commentators made during game 5 was this: (paraphrased, may not be exact) "You can the difference in these teams by their bench. One never sits down and the other rarely stands up."

Yean, the Zen Master has the rings, but coaches get old just like players get old.
The Celtics dominated the first 3 minutes of every 3rd quarter. That's coaching. At the end of Game 4, with a chance to still salvage the game with 15.7 on the clock, the Lakers call timeout AFTER inbounding the ball, forcing them to call their last timeout to advance the ball. A well coached team keeps its head in the game through adversity. In Game 4, Doc makes an adjustment and Jackson cannot make a counter adjustment. Either Jackson was outcoached or the Lakers were lucky to get as far as they did in the playoffs. Guys on the Celtics bench who had not played were ready to play when called on. The professionalism and preparation of 7-12 on the Celtics was, shall we say, Patriot-like? One great result. We can put to bed the "Kobe is as good as Michael" crap. Not even close. They're Baaaaaack. The big three gave a couple of more years left, and Rondo and Perkins will be the nucleus after that. Now if we could only figure out how to breathe some life into the Bruins. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Game 3 not withstanding, Sasha Vujacic is a jopke. I doubt he makes 12th man on the Cavs let alone the Pistons.

Celts were definitely the best team in the NBA this season. I was really glad to see 3 hard-working vets that are real class acts get the hardware.
See bold above Kurn, you homer!!!

Celts probably would have played 3-4 less games in the playoffs if Eddie House actually played over the dead Sam Cassell and they actually ran plays for Ray Allen like they did in the finals.
But hey lets crown Doc Rivers as a good coach anyway. They should have just hired him as the PR director as that is the only good thing he gave them. |

I agree that in a short series, the players and how they respond is 90% and the coaching is 10%.
As for the "superstars" point, I agree you need them, and Perkins may not develop into one, but in 5 years, Rajon Rondo will be considered the best point guard in the game. He'll develop the pull up jumper, and with experience, he'll make better decisions with the ball. His speed and rebounding are already at the top of the class. Too many softees and euro's, agreed. But that's the Western Conference. Mentioning the Cavs may be a stretch, but the Pistons are clearly a better team than the Lakers. Agreed on James Posey. Maybe I'm too harsh on Jackson, but part of a coaches job is getting your players to do the things that win. They needed more Fishers and fewer Euros.

Thank you. Enter DRose next season and he'll be behind him too. Rondo will NEVER play in an all-star game. Bookmark the thread, Kurn!
![]() Rondo's season stats: Season Team G GS MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG 07-08 BOS 77 77 29.9 0.492 0.263 0.611 1.0 3.2 4.2 5.1 1.7 0.2 1.91 2.40 10.6 26% from 3, ugh. 61% FTs?? You want your point guard handling the ball in foul situations at the end of the game. Gotta hit throws. Assist:Turnover ratio ranked 30th in the NBA. Meh. He's slightly above average and I don't see that changing. Tough kid though.
