- means *why* in English. Is that what you meant to say? If so...why what?
![]() Edit: unless you meant *pourquoi-pas* as in *why not* ? If you do have any to sell, message me please and we'll begin the transaction. Last edited by bunny; 01-30-08 at 10:32 AM. |

I'm right along there with Mayhem... I don't understand the demand for play chips that people are willing to pay real money for them. I know you've looked into starting some type of exchange business Bunny so hopefully you can shed some light on this subject. What's the point of paying real money for play chips? (sorry to pseudo-threadjack)

Plain and simple? It's a business, like any other business. If there's a demand for that product, why not sell it? Some buy low (which is the reason they *pay real money for play chips*) and sell high.
There is a high demand for buying/selling Pokerstars play chips. That's a fact! Check out Ebay...you'll be amazed at what people are willing to pay for these chips. ![]() It's crazy, but there is real money to be made and that is probably the main and most important reason. One thing I forgot to mention in my OP is that this person wanting to purchase chips did NOT want to spend over $10. The going rate right now is $12. So players won't sell below the going rate, seems $2 is a huge difference for them, especially if they've purchased them at that price or at $10. They're seeking to make a profit, as in any business. As for me, if I could get $10 per mill ....I'm happy. Since I didn't pay any $ for those *fake*chips. **There are also those players who don't care for the money and will spend solely for enjoyment purposes. Here's the ebay link to people sellling play chips on that site: Tried to respond to your question as best I could. Hopefully you understand the reasoning behind the buy/sell process a little better? I understand that there's obviously a demand. Sorry my question didn't come through better. Let's try again:
What is it that creates this demand? Why are people wanting/willing to pay money for play chips? I can at least understand the market for this sort of thing with MMORPGs like World of Warcraft as players there can't use real world money to buy items and don't want to put in the time to build up their gold/silver/etc. But with play money on sites like Stars where's the payback? Playing poker for play chips seems, at least to me, the same whether your playing for 25/50 blinds or 2500/5000.... |

Hopefully, I've answered your question above (the post in response to RD's question). If not...I don't know how much clearer I can say it....
There's a certain *rush*.... to racing/ guts/ rage games. It's exciting and fun. Something you can't get while at the $ tables when you're concentrating on making money and not losing your BR. |

a while back PS and other sites started recognizing players with the highest amount of play chips.... not sure if it is something they made permanent, but at the time they gave the number one guy something like $100 and PS gear....
some sites will trade in play chips for real money themselves, im think bugsys club does this, but im not sure |

![]() In order to sell them for a higher price, RD. I'd like to point out that if you've never sat down at a table to race or play guts etc....You haven't experienced the fun and enjoyment of those games (or the RUSH), so you can't really understand why people would go to such lengths as to pay for chips. It's a gathering of friends having a good time and enjoying themselves while chatting, making jokes and having fun....without costing them a $ buyin or worrying about how on tilt they are in the $ games. |
