I am focusing on this one hand because it was for my whole roll.
The truth is I'm not a cash game playerand the mentality is different. For a tourney player, I played it well, defined my hand as an overpair and just got UL. All I gotta say. Im broke, I suck. GG |

and people say that the Port Bill UFIA drove all the fish offline.
Seriously guy, I am nice online, ask around. Granted I am a total asshole in real life, but nice online. This is the second completely idiotic thing you have done around here in a week. Don't ask why, don't get mad, just get better. Last edited by melioris; 08-17-07 at 09:34 PM. |

That's really weird, most people do it the other way. Nice in real life, total asshole online.

it was one of those witty, what is not said but implied, comments. The unspoken deduction from the comment "why be mean to strangers?" is that one should save all of one's meanness for family and friends, i.e. non-strangers.
I was riffing on my original absurd comment about being a nice guy online but an asshole in real life. In short, I was trying to be funny. Unfortunately I am not living in Victorian England, even if my sense of humor sometimes does. |

Mr. Melioris, what you've just typed is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this board is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

If you "played it well" you wouldn't have "defined your hand."
When are you going to realize the reason you're getting shit in this thread has zero to do with the hand? ![]()

I'm not the expert, but I'm fine with the way the hand was played. The quote above is the problem. Taking a shot should not be with 100% of the bankroll.
BUT, and this would be a good question for the others, what would be a good "relatively reasonable" br % to take a shot with. example: I am playing 25max and have my br up around $620. I don't think I would take a shot at 50 max until I had at least $750. If I dropped below $650, I'd go back down and not try again until I got around $900-$1000. For my general BR management I try to follow a lot of the guidelines that Chris Ferguson used in his $1-$10 000 BR experiment. I also set up rules about multitabling and when to quit that I was only able to expand once I had a sufficient BR. (setting rules ahead of time keeps me from arguing from the tilting or overcautious voices in my head about when to quit)

![]() ahh memories.. I think everything that could be told to OP has been said. I dont mind taking shots at higher limits but you need to realize that shortstacking games you are going to get a lot of looser calls from people with full stacks. Plus in order to shortstack a higher limit game you have to have the money where if you lose it thats its ok. If that is all your money online that is also fine ONLY if you have the ability to deposit again. Obviously this is not your case because you are very upset about losing this money. why would you post this thread/hand? you knew you were going to get shit for it. |

We've had dozens of threads about bankroll management (feel free to search for more info), but I consider "taking a shot" to be risky when you sit in a game where the buy in is 10% of your roll. I think sitting with more than that is bankroll suicide.
Please note that "hero" in this thread sat in a game where the buy in was 400% of his roll. Talk about a recipe for disaster. The harshness in this thread is so others will learn from akajeff's mistake, since he's obviously still not getting it and is far more concerned with how he played his fucking JJ than the fact that he might as well have transferred his entire bankroll to his opponent and saved himself the time of going through the motions. |
