They switched up the theme and made it a little more...modern maybe? I dunno, the ole west theme is gone anyway. Thoughts on Alex Jacobs call? Even if he was up against a draw it was probably a strong draw against his hand...

My DVR decided not to record the first episode for some reason... I'll catch it in repeats later this week.
I thought the HD quality this year was TONS better than the crappy quality in years past. Props to ESPN for that. Jacobs' call was borderline, but I agreed with his read. If he was right, he'd look like a genius. The installcall on the final had was gross though. Obviously he thought he picked up on something we didn't see at home. |

I think of it this way. Jacobs is an extremely aggressive player, so when the flop comes 2 4 A Jacobs knows that his opponent knows that he doesnt have a set and doesn't have an ace (since he'd raise any PP or any ace preflop), so unless he has 42, he isn't that strong (pair of 4s, pair of 2s, nothing)... so check raising the flop is a good idea almost always.
In this case his opponent had 77, which I would play as if it were the nuts as well (for the same reasons)... but Jacobs had to assume opponent would play any two cards like this, and thus his 4 may be good
