There were actually another dozen or so as well - you guys just don't know all of their names.
I was surprised to see him, since I'm pretty sure he's like 19 or 20, right? Basically, he just came over and said hello, so I said hello back - no hitting. He said he got here a couple of days ago and will be here until August, so I'm sure he and shabi will have plenty of time to go drinking. Because he's underage, I assume he'll be sticking to the cash games. I don't know what he was playing, but I saw him cashing out about 3 racks or red ($1500) later in the night. As for me.... I ended up playing for about 6 hours, until like 4:30 AM local time. I was again playing well, but I did make two calls that I shouldn't have. I knew better, but called anyway. Ran pretty crappy overall for the session, and finished down about $300. considering those two bad calls alone cost me about that much, I'm happy to have been able to break even the rest of the night. Reads were very solid all night, once again. My problem with the two calls I made was going with my brain ("he couldn't have REALLY hit that, could he?") instead of my gut that knew right where I stood in the hand. I was planning on leaving about 2 hours earlier, but the later it got, the more shorthanded we played, which is definitely an edge for me. And some drunk guy came and sat at the table too,so I just couldn't resist. Naturally, he was a drunked card rack. I'm doing nothng today - might play cash game for a while later, but I'm calling it an early night tonight, as I have the 6 man event tomorrow and I want to be fully rested. None of this going to bed when the sun is up crap. sjay and mayhem can do that and still play well, but I'm way too old. ![]() |

TP- nice digs. I guess live play is going to become a bigger part of your poker life?
Wes- a big glass of water and couple aspirin before you go to bed will help with the hangovers. |

Haven't been on the comptuer much, so sorry for lack of updates.
The night before the 2k event, mayhem, Vos and I went out drinking and trolling for girls. We ended up going to the venetian and decided to f--- around in a 1/2 game. Mark is raising to 20 or 30 nearly every hand and owning everyone postflop. the most ridiculous bluffs and value bets, it was really something to watch. he won 10 buyins in two hours playing 95/70 style poker. the whole table was on tilt. we were all really drunk and laughing the whole time. one guy got really pissed off and told mark never to come back to this game. a nit was calling mark a donkey. then we ran through the fountain outside Caesars at like 6am. we woke up an hour before the event and caught a cab to the Rio. A $1000 Rio chip fell out of my pocket in the cab, which tilted me badly. nearly as badly as getting 11 hours deep in the tournament when i would have cashed in another hour or two. just before i busted, i was talking to this young guy at my table. "Are you Australian?" "yeah" "Were you at the Venetian last night?" lololol |

Played in today. It sucked. In the beginning, I erred on the passive side a little bit, but I certainly don't think I played badly at all. To give you an example, I opened from the CO with AJo, Jeff Madsen reraised (to what amounted to about 20% of our stacks), and I folded - that sort of thing. I was moved to three different tables in the span of 4 minutes at one point, which is pretty annoying. Then I was card dead. Then I ran into bigger hands. Then I was out.
I know it's just poker and how it works, but it's frustrating when you're as psyched as I was and playing as well as I have been when you feel like you didn't even have a chance, ya know? Bah. After that, I sat down in a $5/10 game for a while. , I ended up down a little bit - not much. After that, I grabbed a bite to eat and just relaxed outside for a while. Then I stood in the satellite (SNGs, basically) line. They were filling a $325 when I got to the front, so I bought into that. Early on, my JJ sucked out on a VERY short stacked KK's all in. It was cool how the hand went down: He shoves, I call. Flop is KTx. I say, "OK, give me a Queen." Turn is a Queen. I say, "Cool, now give me an Ace." River is a 9. Meh, close enough. The moral of the story is I can't seem to win lately when I get my money in good, so maybe I should start getting it in bad more often! When we got down to three players, we agreed to give whoever finished third his money back. A couple of hands later, with big blinds, the button (who BARELY had me covered) shoved. I look down and see As7s. I think for a bit and decide to fold. The BB calls and flips up KK. The button shows KQ. Naturally, the flop comes 7xx with 2 spades and the turn AND river are both spades.... If only I would have taken my own advice. So, heads up, we decided to chop what's left of the prize pool. He has me outchipped something like 11k-4k, and we agreed to split the remaining $2800, $1700/$1100. I'll take it. As for what's next........... I'm going to play in tomorrow. Rather than feel confident and psyched and feel really good about my game, I'm going to go on record saying I feel terrible, I'm dreading this tourney, I hate the structure, and I'll probably be out really early. Yeah, that's the ticket. |
