Post Howard Lederer DVD

Received the Secrets of Texas Hold 'em DVD by Howard Lederer for Christmas and watched it a couple of times. This is more for the beginning poker player IMO. I tried playing using his chart for starting hands. If you haven't seen it, it gives about 20 starting hands and what you should do pre-flop with each hand. I was at a 3/6 party poker table and played 100 hands. Based on his chart, I played only 14 hands and did exactly as the chart stated. I won with only 6 of the 14 hands I played. It wasn't a bad return as I started with $150 and left with only $173. Any winning session is good in my mind but I folded many hands I would normally play. The hands I did win were large enough to cover the $9 in blinds I lost each round but not much more. Has anyone else played using strictly the chart he includes? I don't know how long the DVD has been out, but being in Japan, I only recently heard about it.
