The reason it is a 10 year deal is to spread the cap. I know $130 million is a lot to spend on a 24 year old, but in my books he along with McNabb, Brady and Manning are all worthy of being the highest paid player in the league. Vick is actually the type of player to build an offense around, and IMO they don't really need a guy like Warrick Dunn. He is a QB/RB. I say he's the most influential player of his time, a new breed of QB. I'd rather go with a B grade RB, save a few million and sign a decent receiver to aid his passing game so he can spread the field even more.

Regarding your tagline...
I had a hot 29 year old Business Exec when I was 21. So Godly, it does not make. Although you still get a nice high five! ![]()

Exactly, that's why he got so much up front as a bonus (30+ million).
This is a case of the Falcons locking him down and banking on his marketability as well as his athleticism. Every kid got a Vick jersey this Christmas and every network will want to televise the Falcons. They will recoup their money, don't worry. Vick is certainly the new prototype of QB. The interesting thing is if he'll stay healthy enough to continue playing the way he does. One knee injury and he may have to learn to be a drop back passer. |

the issue isnt their ability to recoup their money at all. plus, they have to split the money gained from merchandising (ie jersey sales) with the rest of the teams in the league. the cowboys are the only team in the league that controls all of their merchandising revenues.
the real problem with the vick contract is that it has the potential to hamstring the falcons in the future. at some point, they will have to face the fact that vicks deal will take up a ridiculous percentage of their money under the cap, and their entire team will suffer. |

i pretty much think that every player or person in any industry should get every dollar they get. if someone is willing to pay you a certain amount, then that is what you are worth, right?
more power to them all. |

Sorry for infiltrating this post, but....
LMAO! Never mind. Went out with her Monday. I pick the biggest fucking teases in the world every single time. First she helps me "try on a belt", then she sprays women's perfume on me and takes a big whiff of me, then I tell her this and that and she says "Dude, I have a boyfriend". LMFAO, after she said that I put back about 9 MORE rum and pepsi's and slept giggling like a school girl. But actually, the more I think about it I could've gotten the shit kicked out of me if anyone saw this going on because it was at the Eaton's Centre and it was rammed. Michael Vick, best player in the NFL IMO. If anyone is worth that kind of money, it is an NFL player, and why not the best player.

michael vick is particularly noteworthy though, the guy brings in an assload of cash for that franchise
with jerseys, overall ticket sales, etc |

he helps with ticket sales, but the money from the jersey sales goes to the league, and then is redistributed to every team, not just the falcons, so his impact there for the team is minimal.
in a no salary cap world he is worth every penny, but if this contract hamstrings the falcons then it is no good. |

I don't know the specifics of the contract, but it is my understanding that the way they structered it actually helps them with the cap.

I don't think Vick is worth that much money nor do I think he will be around in 10 years. His style of play is injury prone and his longevity is questionable. He will definitely lose his speed in 4 or 5 years and will have to become a pocket passer if he is going to be successful after that time.
The bottom line is that if Atlanta did not pay him that much, some team would have. |
