Default Vegas, baby....

I'm here. Finally.

I was told the firends I'm staying with (part of the time) dont have internet at their house yet (new house, no cable).... so I wasn't expecting to be able to connect much.

Lucky for me, they have a neighbor with an open wireless network well within range

BTW.... I watched Boondock Saints and Cube on the plane (on my laptop). Boondock was good, but not as good as you guys hyped it up to be. And I liked Cube too. Decent fairly low budget flick.

I also got to watch some of the 2003 WSOP. I flew Song, so I had a tv in the seat in front of me with 24 Dish stations. Pretty sweet.

In Vegas you're looking to place deep! That not only includes the WSOP event(s) but also any cute girls you pick up at the bar.

GL. (And I know you'll need it w/ the women, you old-head.)

LOL.

TP, do you plan on playing poker over this wireless network?

If so, is his network secured as far as password protected? If it is not, your information, such as poker passwords and such, are not encrypted and someone may be able to "hack" into your accounts.

Proceed with caution.

Make sure you have file/print sharing turned off on your laptop. This would allow people to see your shared drives/printers.

Most of the ways that you can get tagged for doing this require the owner of the network to be monitoring things they likely don't even know exist (like the router setup page) to see extra people logged in. Or a firewall running on their computer might cause you problems.....but if they are smart enough to have one of those running they would probably have turned on the wireless protection features too??

Good luck in Vegas TP

The network is unsecure, of course, since I'm on it.

I wasn't plannin on playing much poker online, if any, but even if I do, I'm not too worried about it. While I have open access to their router, they don't have open access to my laptop. It doesn't work like that. File and print sharing are off here, so there's not really anything for me to worry about, I don't think.

The big problem I have is sending email. I can download through my usual POP servers, but I usually send through my home (or wherever I am) SMTP server. Since I don't have any idea what that might be for their netowrk, I'm kinda screwed.

Anyone know an SMTP server that allows relaying?

Played in the Media/Charity Event tonight. Playing in Event #43 on Monday and then either Event 44 or 45, or maybe both Tuesday/Wednesday. TBD.

I'll keep you all posted.
