Default 2006 WSOP Main Event...

Rather than clutter up the thread that is for , I wanted to start a new one for all Main Event talk.

The final numbers aren't in yet, but it looks like this year's tourney is going to be a LOT bigger than anyone expected - 8532 entrants plus alternates!

We are finally underway. Updates here:

HAHA

All-In Called with 8-High

On a flop of 1075, Tim Rod bets $300 and his opponent raises to $600. Rod calls and the turn puts the 3 on the board. Rod again bets out with $1,500 and is again raised by his opponent to $4,000. Rod calls and the river puts the 3 on the board. Rod pushes all-in and his opponent immediately calls. Rod flips up KQfor a turned flush. His opponent says, "Do I have a straight flush? Oh, no I don't," as he shows 86 for 8-high.

I'm pretty sure he's playing either tomorrow or Sunday, but I forget which.

It's just complete insanity - this whole thing... There are SO MANY people. I'm going to head down to the Rio in another hour or two, hang out for a while and then meet up with the TP folks tonight.

So far, I'm not al that impressed with CardPlayer's updates.

I would say that PokerWire is another source to keep an eye on, butthey are running the exact smae updates!

Big names eliminated today...

Clonie Gowen
Dan Harrington (wow)
Chip Jett
Amir Vahedi
Minh Nguyen (who apparently never showed up... lol)

I'm sure there were others but that was as far down as the CP site would go.

not a bad day for the pros...

Dan Harrington is by far the biggest knock out of the tournament so far, you expect him to aleast cash in this event each year if not go deep.

I mean I think I know what you're saying, but can you really EXPECT anyone to cash in this thing?

Besides TP of course.

I know you cant expect him to cash in a 8500+ field but if anyone could do it, it was him.

2nd day started....

After you make it 1500 and the other guy makes it 3000, don't you get away from this hand? Sure he could be a terrible donk but you have no idea, and you must assume that most people aren't getting crazy in the first hand without AA.

I think you could fold KK here.... or call and take a look at a flop (I prefer the fold). Can your opponent really make a FOUR BET with anythng besides AA??? I'd lay this down, and "start over" with 8500 chips. No biggie.

Getting all my money in as worse than a 4:1 dog on the first hand of the WSOP Main Event - no thanks... especially with the Kiss of Death.

Conversly, if I was the AA guy, I woud have played it pretty much exactly how he did. The only difference is if this was me, a King would have hit on the turn or river.

Unless "Don" is a nickname and "Jack" is his real name, it's not looking good. This is the only Wooden I see on the list:

I'm reading through yesterday's updates now... just spotted this. Ugh.

Ironically, I've checked my receipt at least a half a dozen times to ensure that it does indeed say TOMORROW, and not today.

This is funny. How great would it have been if the opponent sooth called and then raised on the turn though?

That is correct after losing 12K on the last hand he played, but he's still in it.

Word to the wise TP, AQ is NO GOOD this year.

It wasn't any good last year either. That's he hand that knocked me out of the first tourney I played in last year, and literally THE moment that I became a much better player.

Tiffany Williamson Eliminated
Mark Shoichet raises preflop to $600 and Tiffany Williamson makes the call. The flop comes 9-4-3 and Shoichet bets $600. Williamson raises to $3,000 and Shoichet goes all-in. Williamson then asks Shoichet, "Do you have trips?" After 5 minutes, Shoichet calls the clock on Williamson. She calls and turns over 10-10. Shoichet has K-K and the board bricks out for Williamson, who is eliminated early on in the championship event.

LOL she is the biggest donkey ever... she will never cash in another tourney again prolly.

have seen here make worse plays then that she did have overpair, but putting that much preflop on TT I dont like. Dont know chip stacks but dosent that kinda commit yourself. Dont like commiting myself with TT.

Her call was bad. Preflop is fine (are you seriously going to throw away TT every time someone raises in front of you???). On the flop, she raised too much (2000 would have been plenty), but raising was correct... It's a way of asking "Do you have TT beat?" The problem is, he answered "Yes" and she didn't listen and fold. He obviously didn't have trips, but his play SCREAMS of AA, KK, or QQ. That should have been an easy fold for her right there. There is pretty much no hand he could have that she could beat here.

Also, when you start wih 10k chips, 600 does not "commit" you.
