Sixth Sense - A few questions...
I downloaded the trial version of tonight. I think it has a lot of potential, but I'm not sold on how useful it will be to me just yet. With about twice as many players at Full Tilt as there were last week though (that is an uneducated guess), there are neough tables of my limit that I think this could be a useful tool for me.
I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping you guys can answer: 1. This PT Aggregator thing - I assume I want that running (to combine my multipole dbs), so I have the box checked, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. It says "Running," "NOT Finished," and "Created But Empty" for it's three statuses at the bottom. I'm guessing it's doing it's thing in the background and when it's done, everything will be happy...? Anyone know if it can run with SS closed, or do I need to leave it open? 2. SS lists all of MY stats as 0s across the board. This could be because it's only hitting my Observed HH db right now, but I'm not sure. Either way, I imagine you would want it to pull your stats OUT when giving table averages - is there a way to do this? Or is it already doing this because it figured out who I am via PT? 3. On to the important stuff... Who uses custom scoring? Is the default stuff good enough? If not, anyone have a set of rules they like for 6 max NL that I can import? Anything else I should know? Tips, pointers, etc? Thanks. |

1. The PT aggregator thing is something you use to combine all of your datbases. It makes "refreshing" quicker. It's not something you run while playing. I haven't found a need for it, especially with my small sample at Full Tilt. It takes a long time to run, but you only do it once. I've never done it, so maybe Mayhem can elaborate more if I've failed to mention something.
2. I don't think it's pulling your stats. Usually, I'm using it while I'm not seated so it wouldn't pull them anyway. 3. I use the standard scoring. It's geared more toward the loose and really passive. I don't think the standard scoring looks that favorably on the really loose but aggro players. For a while, I had a custom scoring system set up and I would first sort by standard scoring and join tables. Then, I'd sort by custom scoring and join those. Sometimes, my custom scores would be high, but the standard would be almost opposite. Also, remember that you're looking at table avgs. You may be able to find a super-fish and isolate him w/ a bunch of other TAGS that drive the score of the table down. I think you can choose to either display avg table score or just an overall score. Right now, and we're talking LHE mind you, I just go ahead and join any table w/ a positive fish score. Mayhem and I have used this alot so if you have any other questions, just post here. I'm drunk and going to bed. Later.

Thanks for the response. I found the PT Agg thing and kicked it off (since my Observer HH db is quite large and I want those numbers and the ones from my main db). Hopefully it will be done by morning.
The table totals aren't very promising using the default scoring, since at 3/6 NL, every single table has a negative score. Of course, there is obviously a difference between a -3.6 and a -9.6. I think glancing through the tables and finding the fish with the largest scores is the way to go. That's basically what I do anyway, but it will be much easier in this interface than going through the tables by hand or by using PAHud's "stats" (I use that term loosely). Will it be worth the monthly fee? I'm not sure yet. Maybe. Hopefully Boobie and Mayhem will chime in as well, and maybe someone will post some solid custom scoring for 6 max NL. |

Are those rules in ADDITION to the standard rules that are already in there, or is this ALL that you use to score your fish? I have to think this isn't nearly enough info to create decent scoring. I mean, yeah, it will point out the ultra loose players, but I can do that much myself (for free) with PAHud. I'd think optimal rules would incorporate lots of other rules too - looking for the ultra passive players, looking for the guys who call everything down and LOSE at showdown most of the time, and so on and so forth...

Any more responses to this?
I've decided that the defaul rules are junk. Well, maybe not junk, but certainly not very good. Surely one of you SS users has found a decent set of rules to use, no? I could try to come up with my own, but why reinvent the wheel? |

Pfft. Really? I thought Boobie was singing it's praises not long ago too.
