Step Program Turbo Option
I've gotten up to the Final Step in the Step Prog for a Main Event Seat
I've been playing mostly Turbo 9 Player SnGs thus far (with one regular and one super turbo mixed in when that was all that was starting) and I am considering which of the options to Play for the final Step between the allotted 3 choices of Regular SNG, Turbo SNG and Super Turbo SNG. Normally there wouldn't be a thread here and I'd continue playing the Turbos but the prize pool is different for Super Turbos than it is for Regular or Turbos. The Regular SNG and Turbo SNG are both $2000 + $100 and pay out in the following manner 1st: Seat 2nd-3rd: Repeat Step 7 ($2100 Buy In) 4th-6th: Drop to Step 6 ($640 Buy In) The Super Turbo SNG is a $2060 + $40 and pays out as follows 1st: Seat 2nd-3rd: Repeat Step 7 ($2100 Buy In) 4th-6th: Drop to Step 6 ($640 Buy In) 7th-8th: Drop to Step 5 ($216 Buy In) Does the added benefit of a lower rake and more prize pool, thus allowing 2 extra spots to be paid out without affecting any of the higher place payouts make me want to give the super turbo a think? It's obviously much higher variance but I'm also thinking that the level of play will probably be pretty high at the final step so maybe the low stacks and thus push/fold strategy will neutralize the edge Im sure the more experienced SNGers could have ... then again do I really wanna crapshoot in the last Step? Is it a crapshoot? What do people think?

If all things are equal....then I would do the super turbo....but you can always table select...and find a table with a few soft players that make up for the added rake.
If this is FTP, I believe they don't allow you to use OPR/Sharkscope/PTR/etc....so careful with the table selecting. |

FWIW, I have used the shit out of PTR while playing cash games (3/6 - 5/10 LHE) on FTP with no problems.

2. Programs or services that provide additional information on opponents that a player would not normally be privy to: Certain programs, websites, and subscription services provide extra information on opponents which may not be used during play. For example, the use of shared databases of tournament histories, results, and statistics are not permitted. Specific examples include: SharkScope Top Shark Smart Buddy Poker Table Ratings |

Tough question. The ST sure seems more +EV, but it is so much higher variance, and really a completely different game than what you have been playing thus far (mostly).
So, I'm not really sure what to tell you other than GL. I have yet to take a shot at the 2010 WSOP. I suppose I should. I'm playing the $370 on Stars this Sunday, but what else looks good? |
