Tilt
Has anyone seen the promos for ESPN's new series/movie, I'm really not sure which, Tilt. It looks interesing if only because its from the writers of Rounders. It also looks like its done in the typical ESPN fashion, which I'm not a huge fan of. Anyone else know anything about it?

I know what you mean by the typical ESPN fashion.... Can't quite put my finger on it... editing? Sound? There's something that's just not quite right.
I know nothing about this show... looking forward to it though. |

I think it might have something to do with the lighting of their fictional shows, it always seems like the colors are a shade too dark and a lot of the scenes are shadowy. It was like this in On the Edge, (On the Brink? the movie about Knight and Indiana) Playmakers, even the Dale Earnhardt movie had a hint of it. Its strange that all their shows come out like this.

the show looks pretty cheesy to me, and i figured it did to most other serious poker players. dunno, maybe it's just because im not too into drama on my sports channel.

Yeah, and lipstick cams are great and all , but does anyone ever want them to give you a couple hands without the cams? It's fun putting the pros on cards, mostly to see how wrong you are. But of course people would get pissed when one hand came around with no cams, or a hand would have cams when you didn't want it too... It would just be too hard to control
would be cool though |

I find the promo funny when the dude saids 'We need to hurt him in a cash game'. Makes it sound like its another language or something.

You guys don't like how ESPN puts the WSOP together? I find the WSOP a lot more entertaining than any WPT tourney. Maybe it's the event itself and not the commentators/setting/etc. Or maybe I just think Vince Van Pat is too slick for his own good

We're not talking about the WSOP, we're talking about all those little miniseries/movies that ESPN puts on and hypes for a month and a half before with crappy promos. Their coverage of actual events is a completely different story.

I like the WSOP much better than WPT because it offers all of the other games, which are ufn to watch. Mostly because I'm not up to date on the strategies, so its interesting for me. I think its also important to let people know that there is more to poker than NL Texas Holdem.

I'm gonna shit if I see another promo for this. I've got it freakin memorized for god's sake.
I'm not really "looking forward" to the show, but I'll watch it if it's convenient. It does have that ESPN feel that all of their dramas have. Agreed. I laugh my ass of everytime I see that young, black dude go flying across the table and tackle that guy. He goes from seated to completely horizontal over the top of the table. Looks like he got shot out of a cannon or jumped of a trampoline or something. |
