Default general league rules

I have been in many leagues and actully will be involved in one on a different forum next month. Here is how they usually work but of course rules can be changed by TP or anyone to fit his personal taste.

Usually they are run for about 1 to 3 months, usually about 2 games per week to let everyone have a chance to play. Buy in would be suggested $5 or $10, now as for placing you get points by what place you come on compared to how many join. I know a great place to find many calculators to determine this just ask, at end of league prizes will be given out and the prize pool should be mostly from the users.

for example $10 to join the league and the individual buy ins for the tornies say 20 people join that makes a prize pool of $200 to be split between top 3 places at 60%,30% and 10% or whatever you personally want to make it. Of course whatever you win along the way in your games is yours to take. usually you only take your top like 8 scores so it will be fair to everyone. Not fair if someone was able to make all 32 games and some other guy only able to make like 10 of them. It seems on this site we would have to do 2 a week because its so hard to get everyone together on one day a week.

You could also run 2 leagues together one PM and one AM then the winners of each play eachother or just have 2 seperate ones. Really its up to the users how they want to do it. I think this is a great Idea and I would be all for it if you all want to get it together. I dont like the idea of a free league because I think TP has given enough and needs a break. I think most of the users here could afford this. I personally think a $10 entry fee to leaugue and a $5 entry fee to tornies would work out nice.

I would be very interested in something like this. I have pondered something like this for a while but just never saw open. What site are you looking to do this on?

If there is enough interest in this, I will fully support it and will gladly ADD money to the prizepool... but this can not be a freeroll league. It has to be a minimum buy in league.

Also, I don't want to run it. I have enough going on. So if someone else wants to step up (Blibbity? ), by all means, please do. Hell, BDMK seems to have a lot of experience with this. Maybe he'll want to step up and lay out the groundwork, see who is interested, and get things going...

i think we can do it without you having to add money to it. Should be a simple as having a buy-in to the league and there is the prize money at the end. I know you feel obligated to put money in every torney we have but think its time you took a break with that stuff.

I have a great calculator right now but its linked through another forum so Ill find another one.

How about something like a 20 dollar original league buy in. Then 5 - 10 dollars for each individual event. If you would like even some sort of a mainevent with a 30-40 dollar buy in.

I would also like a few different events not only hold em. Maybe PL omaha high or seven card stud

Absolutely, Omaha 8B (limit and PL) TOO!

I have no problem getting this going, but I am not an expert with it by any means so if anyone has any input feel free to share it. BDMK, let me know if you are interested in figuring this out.

First questions:

1) Who is interested?
2) How much would you be willing to put in to a league fee? ($10, $20, $30)
3) How much would you be willing to pay as a buyin per event? ($5, $10)
4) How long should this last (maybe a shorter duration one for the first try)? (10 weeks with 2-3 events per week at varying times/days/game types? Top 8 of the 20-30 games count)
5) What games would you like to have as part of the lineup? (NL, LIMIT, PL Omaha, Omaha 8B LIMIT and PL, 7 Stud, 7 stud 8B, Horse )

Default ummmm

Point System: The point system will be the same as we have used in the previous leagues. It is a simple reverse point system with the top 3 spots earning extra points. Last place earns one point, each place up from last earns another point. The top 3 spots each get additional points (5 for first, 3 for second, 1 for third). Here is an example with 10 players. Your best 6 scores (out of the 7 weeks) will count towards your overall point total.

Cost: The league has a $5 fee to register. This $5 will ALL be paid out in prizes. Each league match will be a regular $5.50 tournament, with the normal prize structure.

entry fee for the leaugue will be sent to TP account because he is the most trustworthy person on here.

Prize Distribution: The prize pool will be distributed to the top 3 in total points at the end of the final match. 1st - 50%, 2nd - $30%, 3rd - 20%.

Im in. I think a $20 dollar league fee and $10 events will be the most reasonable, and will get the most turnouts. All of the games you mention should be played at least once, with the final MAIN EVENT being NLHE, just like the WSOP. Im not sure how the points system works, but if we could do something like the Toyota Leaderboard to determine the overall winner, that would be cool. The main event would be weighted heavier than the other events. Last of all I think this should be on Stars. If I have to play one more match on Bugsys Club, I think my eyes will commit suicide and take my brain with them.

Wait..... because people are having a discussion and aren't blindly accepting everything you say, you're "out?"

Yup, that sounds about right.

has nothing to do with that just dont feel like putting $20 into something that might not even have a good turnout every week. I would rather sit back and watch this, is that ok with you?

I didn't realize the rules and league buy in were finalized. I thought one person disagreed with you and that was enough to send you running.

But certainly - you are welcome to do whatever you like.

I am another that would be interested in playing in a league if it comes to pass, I think it would be great fun and most on here seem to know one another fairly well so why not have a league for talking poker members. Gives everyone a chance to play good, fun poker together.

I am very interested in this and I think too it is a good idea to play some other games besides NL Hold Em although i think that should be the main game - this way i will be forced to learn to play the other games.

I could care less how you all run it, hell make it 1k buy in. I have enough to keep me busy with leagues this next 2 months that I could care less. I just want to know why TP has to jump down my neck and put a negative twist on everything I post.

because I like most of the users here and enjoy playing with them.

and i wasnt starting the league I posted the info because I have experience playing them and wanted to share what I know about playing them. Although there is no way im shelling out $20 in a league that im not sure is gonna be good or not. Now if its a sucess then id be happy to next time around.
