Default Losing my shirt...

at UB. No joke!

Clearing the bonus on that site is like removing seeds from a grenade.(it's a fruit, for those of you who don't know of it)

Started off well, but now it's downhill all the way. Took a turn for the worse.
Losing isn't helping. Ugh.

Party Poker was so simple. This is almost as bad, if not worse, than Pacific.

I've tried staying away for today, but to no avail. I just keep going back and losing a little more each time. Thinking if maybe I should leave and forget about clearing the bonus or if I should stay and battle it out. Already lost 1/4 of my initial deposit. Taking a few days off is another possibility.
Wonder if there's a bonus expiry period?

Guess it's my turn to tilt, eh?

eeejit - Did you jinx me?

i jinxed you? I remember saying, my exact words - "Bunny, why the hell are you playing royal poker, you fewl, go back to 0.50/1 limit"

And i did say the site was tougher than the others youve played at, i dont know why, it just is. Play ABC limit poker and you should break even fine.

Nikki would be able to tell you more about clearing bonus at UB but she's doing quite well at it. It's SLOW as hell, but rather efficient. She's playing small stake limit HE. The MAIN key to clearing the bonus is to make sure that YOU are the first person to sit down at the table. That way, you get credit for "starting" a table and earn extra UB points.

I'm sure that Nikki will chime in here when she gets home from work tonight (or maybe tomorrow - depends on how tired she is).

Mmmmm, shirtless bunny...........

In other news: Go buy a freaking poker book. Then read it. Then apply what you have learned and see if you can beat the low limits on UB (or better yet, elsewhere).

UB is most definitely not the best place to bonus whore. The bonus dollars don't expire, but most people consider them completely worthless because of the amount of play required to clear them.

After you read your book, I suggest you try 100% bonus. It's also slow, but not as bad as UB and the tables aren't as tough either. It's also a much better site for cash games. UB has a great tourney structure, and I like their non-Hold'Em games (Pineapple. Triple Draw, etc), but you won't catch me at a Hold'Em cash table there... ever.

Edit: I'm moving this thread to the Poker sections, since it's about... you know.... poker.

Yeah, I've been playing at UB lately just for a lark (I don't feel like playing with my real bankroll right now, saving it for the TP league). I've been playing the super micro limits (1/2cent and 2/4cent) and seeing what I can do and how much I can make with the bonus dollars. It is quite tedious though. And if I was serious about making money with poker, it's just not worth it. On average each session is earning me a couple bucks (winnings and bonus dollars combined). I think I've made about $20 in two weeks!! But as Rob says, the key is to start the table and get an extra 25% in bonus. And limit is definitely the way to go as well, NL is much harder to get UB points (at least at low limits). Make sure you also play tight. So even if you are having a bad run at cards, if you can last a long time at the table, the points you earn can equal more bonus dollars than what you bought in for (of course, this probably only works for micro limits). But more often than not, because I'm tight, if I'm in a pot, I'm taking it down.

I've been multi-tabling 3 at a time. $1/$2 Limit HE. Mixed it up with a few $.50/$1, ever since the losing streak. Didn't know about the extra 25 % for starting a table. Thanks for the tip.

I'm thinking of cutting my losses and leaving. I'm down $100 and that's including my (only) $45 bonus. For every 1 UB Point, I lose about $2 in blinds alone. Doesn't making bonus whoring sense, to stay.

I don't know about the comment about Full Tilt being good for clearing bonus'.
I am currently getting killed.
And am extremely short bankrolled, now, tryin to work my way back. (Started at $600 and only cleared $170 of the $600)
Some of it(the losses) was, admittedly, my fault.
A lot was some pretty tough competition at $2/$4 limit holdem 9 person tables.
Any advice on the best tables to play at Full Tilt to try and clear the bonus is much appreciated. (Probably a bit late, but if I get myself in better shape I will try your advice)

I did not know that the french for pomegranate was grenade. Huh. Kind of makes sense, since it can kind of explode and make a big red mess. And I guess that's what grenadine is supposed to taste like?

Anyway, I've also found the UB bonus to be impossible to clear. Since it doesn't expire, I'm going to try and find a bonus elsewhere, and come back to the UB one when I've improved my game. Full Tilt, perhaps? Is anywhere else offering a reload bonus right now?

By the way, bunny, be careful about the rules of raked hands. I noticed that the Intertops one specificed that raked hands were ones where "you were dealt into a hand whose pot was raked". All players in that hand qualified, even ones who folded before the flop and didn't contribute to the pot! So, no need to see lots of flops to clear the bonus quicker.

I don't think you should ever allow the fact that you're trying to clear a bonus enter into your decisions at the table.

Agreed!

As for who is offering a RELOAD right now, MB, you shouldn't care about that. Go open a new account somewhere that you don't have one yet and clear that initial deposit bonus. Then that will be just one more site that you you will able to get a reload bonus when they offer them. By waiting to join a site until they have a reload available, you likely won't be able to get it anyway (unless you clear their initial deposit extremely quickly - but even then, you likely won't qualify for the reload).

I'm not waiting to join sites to find a reload! The problem is that I already have accounts at a bunch of sites, which makes me ineligible for the initial deposit.

I already have accounts at:
PartyPoker
PokerStars
UltimateBet
Intertops
Royal Vegas
(Bugsy's Club - but not sure I ever deposited there)
(Tropical Poker - ditto)

So where do I go next? bonuswhores.com seems to suggest William Hill for my $250 bankroll, but I seem to remember it getting negative rep here.

Does the "Sticky" thread say the offer is still good? Better yet, does it say anywhere that it's no longer still good?

Yes, it's good, and it's STILL the best deal on the net. Did I mentioned the 0 raked hand requirement???

Default I'm not a Quitter.

I've decided to stick around and try to clear my bonus on UB.

I have switched from playing at $1/$2 (eeejit's idea) to micro-limits (nikita's idea). Amazingly enough, it seems to be working. I've been multi-tabling, $.02/$.04 & $.05/$.10, starting my own tables as was suggested by Robbie, for the extra 25%. (every little bit helps, when trying to clear bonus. good tip)

Basically, try to play only my blinds, check/fold every other hand(while still collecting UB points, 10 UB = $1.), with the exception of pairs. EDIT: I'm trying to play it this way, but from time to time, I still play the AK,AQ suited, only to lose the hand to a runner runner who caught his little straight or flush. Most of my AK or AQ hands have been while on my blinds, though.

I was down, a little over $100 on Wednesday (-$121 to be exact), as of today, I'm still down, but not as much. Waiting to orbit one last round, so I can collect my UB points before BB and receive an accurate amount to add on here. Loss, as of today, -$67.

I will be trying to at least break even...once that is done, I'll leave $50 in my account, (in order to continue to try and clear my bonus) and withdraw the rest.

My NEW bonus whoring rule - Play less hands, while still collecting points and play my strongest hands only, in order to profit from them. Fold all the rest, just not worth it.

ReelDeal - I agree with you. This is probably not the correct way to play poker. But when you're on a losing streak, I think it's the only way out. This is how most bonus whores clear their bonus, anyway.

It's ok to play tight. A lot of those hands you listed are easy folds from a lot of positions.

I don't love the "fold almost everything" strategy, but it beats the hell out of bunny's former "see every flop" strategy. My God does it ever.

I still think bunny should read a damn poker book though.
