Default NLHE reraising guidelines

Let's say you're at 25/50 blinds and everyone folds to the cutoff who opens for $200.

You want to reraise. What's the guideline here for the amount of the raise?

I'm usually going to push it up to 4xBB + the pot. So, $450 or $500. Is that correct?

I think it depends on if you want him to call or not. Typically, you want him to be making a mistake by calling....

Those guidelines looks pretty good to me, but typically, I'd raise a little bit more there... say in the 575 to 625 range.

Where's Kurn when you need him?

I think it also depends on your what cards you reraise with too. I'd assume your range is around AKs+ and J/J (or Q/Q) plus+. If you're the button or the blinds plays a part too.

But I assume you mean generally, in which case I'm going right near three times the raise also, but I might drop it down some with KK or AA if I want to try to accumulate chips earlier and haven't reraised pf yet.

I wouldnt say the cards matter, especially before the flop...

Are you reraising to steal (which im assuming here)? Then it depends what you put him on. If youre trying to push him off a decent hand preflop you better make it a good bit more than what you said, if you put him on a steal, your example would work just fine.
