Be wary of this....
This guy sent me an email today...don't know if there's any truth to what he said; but just in case...be careful. I know I'm not taking any chances with it.
Here is the email: Hello Wild0ne, I saw some spam in one of the chat windows the other day while playing at Full Tilt. A ghost player was hitting all the open tables promoting a product called Poker Prophecy which can be found at *deleted* I downloaded the program to look at it. To my astonishment as part of the process of making it work it asked for my username and password for Full Tilt! Upon looking at the program further I discovered the following areas of great concern to me: 1. When you start to install the program Microsoft alerts you immediately that the source of this program cannot be verified as a trusted source. You are told in the advisory to not install it. 2. You cannot uninstall the program by going to your control panel and using Add/Remove. It is NOT listed. There is no uninstall feature on the program itself. They put it on your machine with the full intentions of it being there forever monitoring and sending information back and forth over the internet to the home of the makers of the program. 3. It is hidden under the C: drive "program files" folder usually starting with some name like: v 1234 abcd or some other filename that are an obvious attempt to keep you from finding it. When you go into the folder that houses the program you will see nothing but a shortcut and NO files. How can a program run with no files? Because the files it runs on are embedded in other hidden places that they do not want you to know about. Once you install it you are stuck with it forever. You can delete the shortcut, but the program remains somewhere gathering information. 4. It asks for your usernames and passwords to any and all casino rooms that are on the list that it supports. Now if you want to give a program full access to your computer and full access to your gaming accounts and passwords you are more trusting than me. This is not a program that you want to run on your machine! PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO ALL YOUR POKER FRIENDS SO THEY CAN BE INFORMED

What is this software "supposed" to do? Anyone know?
How did they get your email/user name, rook?

A different forum I'm in. They have my email and I just saw that this morning. I'm going to try to reply to them asking them what this really is ok?

It's just a program that pools data from PokerTracker and the users of it have access to the data.
I'm pretty sure it's detected by Party. I also think it's insta-ban from Party if it's detected on your computer. Used or not.

It tracks how many times a player cashes in a SNG then gives them a rating based on how many times they have placed. Poker Prophecy is banned by Party Poker and I think Pokerstars.

Yeah, I would delete the link at the top to this site. Party Poker will ban you if you even have a cookie in Internet Explorer from Poker Prophecy.

Here's more about what Poker Prophecy actually is.
And yes it's been banned by Party Poker; I'm not sure about Stars though. What I wonder is how they can know every person's stats?

Yep good idea. *deleted it*
Edit: Question: Am I allowed to post a reply from the owner of Poker Prophecy that was posted on another forum?

It's an interesting idea but i can understand why party and other poker sites ban it. Its unfair for a player to have advantages over the players at his table besides skill level.

Ok then ...here it is:
Someone asked an employee of Poker Prophecy this question: [i]Why all the stealth attempts to hide the program files and also no uninstall features? Poker Prophecy is a banned program at Party Poker because we supply information that the players themselves do not gather. We feel this was an unjust ruling on their part and we have taken steps to protect our product and our customers by making our application 100% undetectable by any means. We have been successfull in doing this which leads to our software having hidden program files and not having an unistall feature. The link to the Party Poker "unfair advantage policy" is below, We are not on any such list at Full Tilt Poker and we have no reason to believe we ever will be. Ryan Schultz

Interesting. That certainly doesn't explain why they would need your poker site PASSWORDS though. I think you'd be insane to give them that.
Other than that, it seems legit... but also unnecessary (for what I play) and certainly not worth the risk if it's on Party's blacklist. |

So the guy that sent that letter sent it to Poker Prophecy as well and they sent one of their employees to answer some questions:
This was in response to the first post of this thread. Hello, My name is Ryan Schultz and I am an employee of Poker Prophecy. I was kindly informed today by a customer of ours who frequents these boards of this issue. I would like to ask that you please let us respond with our side of situation. So first off let me address the major issues of security that you have with our product. The username and password requested by our program is the username and password YOU MAKE when you purchase Poker Prophecy. If you would have tried to use Poker Prophecy with your Full Tilt account info you would have been declined. Poker Prophecy has over 10,000 customers and security is very important to us. While I can understand your concern of thinking Poker Prophecy is another poker site out to scam you we are offended that you would assume that is the case without looking into our product a bit more deeply. In regards to confusion about the free trial if you go to our website you can clearly see the "try" button which allows you to do five free searches of our database. The downloadable application is to be used by our customers once they purchase the product. Finally we are not affiliated with Full Tilt Poker in any way. Full Tilt Poker is one of four sites we monitor at this time and we do all our data collection on our own. Best Regards, Ryan Schultz

If they want to share their side of the story, why not just come here and post it? I don't understand this whole "they tell some dude and then he tell you and then you tell us" thing...
Whatever. It's a product I don't need, and even if I did, I wouldn't risk losing my Party account for using it. |

It was an email that was sent to me ...warning ME of that product and asking me to tell others about it. So I did. Didn't think it would be a problem posting it on here. Again.

It wasn't. And it's still not.
BTW thought, I was referring to this part: All I was asking is why not just come post this himself instead of delivering it second or third hand? |

I'm not being bitchy at all. Sorry if I came off that way. Just having a bit of trouble following this thread, I guess.
One minute we are being warned about some software, the next minute we are given the other side of the story, and so on. But the bottom line is this: If Party is going to shut down your account for using this software, don't use it. That risk isn't worth any edge you think you can gain from it. |

Gotcha. This line in your post threw me off (didn't realize you were quoting):
I get it now. It's late. Cut me some slack. |

I could be wrong, considering im not fully aware or pokertracker. Pokertracker is your individual stats, but this Prophecy program is showing your opponents stats. I belive pokertracker is a great idea, however i don't agree with knowing your opponents stats unless they give them to you
