Why is your friend upset at 'Stars having a German language poker forum?

I this this is a horrible idea. Pokerstars starting a school to teach the fish. That website said there going to have tips, blogs, rankings, forums, videos, lessons with pros. This is horrible, dont teach the fish.

How is any of that different than what 'Tilt does? Just because there will be information out there doesn't mean it will be used well. I'd estimate that 90% of people who read poker books either don't really understand what's being taught or can't implement it.

Besides, for now, the only people who will be party to 'Stars info will be the small percentage of us that speak German.

I kinda agree with stars here

Hello Brian,

Thank you for your feedback.

At this time there is so much free information available on the
internet
like forums, video tutorials, articles, and e-books everywhere. It is
accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world. So it's not like poor
players
don't have access to a lot of information anyway.

This web site, although will be helpful, won't change the way the
majority
of people play. There will still be thousands of new players without
much
knowledge of the game. Also, a lot of players are ignorant and believe
they are the best at this game. Those players will never learn
anything,
and will always be easy money to the players that are willing to take
the
time to learn.

You will notice that most online poker sites have similar form of
articles
teaching people to play. Does that make those sites that have that
information a lot tougher than others? From my experience, I don't
think
so.

So I don't think this web site, will change the world of poker. Though
it
will help a few players, that would have found information elsewhere,
but
choose to find it here because they like PokerStars, and we offer just
as
good material as anywhere else.

If you need assistance with anything else, please do not hesitate to
contact us as we will gladly assist you 24/7.

Regards,

Mathew

Didn't PartyPoker have a poker school to teach people how to play better? That seemed to make the fishes dry up didn't it?

People teaching others how to player poker? OUTRAGEOUS! After I get back from my weekly poker-book-burning in the library parking lot I am going to write my congressman!

p.s. Mayhem and Pokerstars support have it dead on. Making information available to people doesn't mean shit. If it did, the advent of the internet would have perfected society by now.

You dont think pokerstars is going to advertise it?

I'll bet you(seriously bet $) that as soon as the school starts youre going to see it on their news pop up window and see a flashy commercial advertising it.

If there is one thing I can tell you about Americans after dealing with typical "fish-style" people eight hours a day it's this: they do NOT read. I'm not saying they don't know HOW to read as I'm sure they manage that. It's that they CHOOSE not to.

So, the pop-up means nothing.

Now, the TV commercials - if there are any - THOSE may get their attention but here's where we get to the crux of the issue. How many of these fish are going to want to waste time watching, or, gods forbid, *reading* about how to improve their game. Doing something to improve their game would a) mean they would have to admit that their game needs improving and b) delay them from actually playing.

I'm reminded of a sketch from comedy group The Frantics called Tai-Kwan-Leap (or Boot to the Head). It sums up patience very well...

No, these videos do absolutely NOTHING to worry me that the fish pool will dry up. Let's face it, fish exist because of people seeing pros making the big scores on TV or hearing about Sunday Million winners and they all think I can be next! So they go out and start to play. The fact that they suck means nothing to them as most of them believe either a) it's all luck anyway or b) they don't believe they suck, they think they're great. (Calling a reraise preflop with 62o is always good play isn't it???)

It really boils down to the following: most people simply aren't willing to do anything to help them succeed. They're looking for the quick score - big poker pots, lottery wins, whatever. As soon as they have to work for it, it quits being fun and they lose interest.

I think it's funny that people worry about things like this. The big picture is that this will attract more NEW (bad) players to Poker Stars in the long run than it will turn existing bad players into good players. But even if the latter was the case, so what? Is your game so vulnerable that if 5% of the player base (a massive overestimate) out there improves becaose of this, you're going to turn into a losing player???

This reminds me of the people that won't post on poker forums (hmmmmmmm) because they don't want to "educate the fish" with their apparent mastered strategies of the game. LOL. Yeah, cause YOUR posts are going to make a difference and negatively impact your bottom line when your opponents use them against you. Uh huh. Sure they are.

Of course they will. However, making it available and making people listen to/use the information are two different things. If they offer anything that isn't available from a lot of other sources, I'd be suprised. (which is kind of the point most people are making here)

Good point. The fish in any game generally not a static. group. They come and either lose and quit, lose and go somewhere else, or eventually get better and move up (starting the cycle all over again). If providing information does anything, it helps the players who seriously want to get better, get better faster.

Come to think of it, that is what a lot of the old school brick an mortar pros eventually came to say about online poker (in terms of the amount of time needed for the serious player to improve due to the number of hands they get to see online).

Fish come and go, all this could possible change is the rate of that transition.

testify Brother! If I am trying to get better, and my opponents are getting better, doesn't that help me in the long run? If not I could hone my skills a lot cheaper with play money or 1 cent / 2 cent games.

Bring on the fish of tomorrow!
