I honestly cannot tell you why I raised pre flop. Lots of bluffs in previous hands, I guess.

As long as you know you played this badly and got lucky, so be it. This is NOT a play I would recommend though. Sure, in the short run you can get lucky like this (I can't believe it held up), but in the long run, it's going to kill you...

I would recommend staying at that table a while. After getting lucky like that, it is awesome to tighten up and do a complete 180.

Absolutely. Overbet a monster after this, and you'll get callers.

Had you been playing like a maniac before this hand? I just don't see how the guy could have gone to the river with you with only a pair-o-jacks. I would have put you on a premium pocket pair; AA, KK, QQ.

Actually, I really don't think it's such a bad idea every now and then.
You also learned that someone is willing to call off their stack with a pair of Jacks and facing a possible open-ended draw. Well played.

I think Chip has had one too many Jaegarbombs this afternoon.

Chip's not 19 anymore.... There will be no Jaegerbombs in my future.
I still think everynow and then it's a smart play.

I like a raise now and then with nothing. I'm not sure a pot with a raise and callers to you is the time to do it though. Also, J3os has very few stong hands you can flop (JJx, 33x, J3x....thats about it), other than that you are it a bad spot to that same AJ that called you to the river.
Even a J7os is a better choice for a play in a pot with a couple of callers......but IMO, I would prefer low suited connectors, one gaps, etc that have a better shot of hitting big and not costiing you a lot to chace top pair, bad kicker. |
