Default Starting Over

Well, I have been in a funk for the past few months and I am going to try and get myself out of it. I have gone to the pit of hell that is .50/1 limit poker and have decided to play only by the book. period. Try and figure out if all my woes are just normal slides, or me being loose or some other combination. Hopefully I can figure it out and get back on the winners team. If not, well, there are probably better things to do with life than play Poker.

Just for those of you who have not followed my tales. I have been playing for about a year. I went on a run early in my career before I knew anything about bankroll management and won a decent amount of money in a few months, bringing $50 up to $1200 playing limit. I then had a REALLY bad night and busted out. I thought I had learned my lesson, but did the same thing over a six to eight month period with about 3000 dollars. Thankfully I have only lost like $300 in real cash. After busting out of the 3K roll I decided to try some of anything to get out of my funk. I ended up winning 1300 bucks in 2 weeks playing NL and then just hit a run of HORRIBLE luck and busted that out. So if I had never busted out I could be up over 5500 instead of playing .50/1 with an under funded bankroll. Wish me luck!

This is why I play limit solely.

Firstly, more likely to find chasers, secondly, and I assume you went on major tilt, your losses are "limited" should you go on tilt.

If you haven't done so yet, read Small Stakes Hold 'em. Then read it again.

And keep clearing the bonuses.

Small stakes full-ring, I am in love with them once again.

Default Hey

the $1/$2 shorthanded games on party are really soft if you want to try them out. Find tons of people thinking their bottom pair is good!

Default Stuff

Brian: I am going to stick with da .50/1 full. Why? It takes more skill to beat it. I am trying to get some confidence back that I can beat poker and I find beating ten people alot harder. Also, I am not playing a lick of 1/2 until my Bankroll is high enough. It is at 97.25 and climbing right now.

Kurn: It is my favorite book. Like I said before I am getting back to basics and trying to figure out what I did to ruin my game. Probably a mix of alot of things. Anyways, I am basically sitting on page 80 pre-flop, and not getting too cute. Especially at .50/1 where someone will call your 2-3BET with a runner-runner gutshot draw on the turn, LMAO.

junYUN: Two things. Would like to see you play some night. Look me up. FWALGman on Party. Secondly: Different people play for different reasons. What do you consider killing .50/1? How much profit do you make in an average night? I have two goals in playing poker. 1) Make money, 2) Be the best player I can. I have a decent paying day job. If I stick to .50/1 I will never make any money that is serious to me. At 5/10 or 3/6 even you can make alot (and lose alot). Anyway, I think it is worth getting a large bankroll built up so I can make 1-2K or 4-5K a month instead of a few hundred. Maybe you already make that, I dont know, but that is my intention. I have yet to fully succeed in my attempts mostly because I do not handle losing very well, but I still have hope for myself.

I do think I have done better than the majority of online players who I have seen play. Many people never get anywhere. Alot of people playing longer than me have never had even close to my bankroll. If I can adjust my personality a little I might actually be able to make some money doing this. Either that or I will go slowly insane until they put me away in an insane asylum muttering over and over "I can not beleive he called my raise with 23o".
