Doyle's Room - Super Bonus

Was trying to decide where to head next between Doyle's Room and Fult Tilt... then found this:

At Doyle's Room they're running a Super Bonus (110% of your initial deposit), however you have to have a code that they say can be found in various advertisements in major poker publications and national media. Has anyone come across this code? If so, do you mind sharing it?

I'm not much of a bonus whore, but this one looks mighty tough to clear. Right? You have to earn 200 Action Points per dollar to clear (more on that below) and they don't release the bonus in increments, you have to clear it all to get any of it (although it never expires). They never say what the ratio of Action Points to Dollars in the pot equals, but you only get a proportional amount of the Action Points in any given pot based on your contribution to the pot (does folding PF = 0 Action Points?).

From their website...

How Action Points are awarded
A pool of Action Points is generated per hand. Each time a bet is made, the Action Points pool increases.
So, the larger the pot, the more Action Points there will be *.
The available points per pot will be distributed to all players who are dealt a hand in the pot on a pro-rated (percentage) basis.
The more you bet, the larger your share of the hand's available Action Points will be -- and it doesn't matter whether you win or lose the pot!
Currently, Action Points awarded for tournament fees are credited towards the Action Points usable for freeroll entries and prizes.
* For every real money hand that is dealt a maximum of 300 Action Points will be awarded.

So, assuming (and it's a big assumption) that 1 Action Point per dollar in the pot is awarded and you deposit the max. $500 ($550 bonus) then you will have had to wager $110,000 to clear the bonus!

Anyone know what the ratio of Action Points to Dollars in the pot really is?

Any of you bonus whores care to comment on how easy/hard this is to clear?

I did the 35% bonus for $135 and it took me about four days to clear it. I mostly played 2/4 six max limit and some 1/2 limit. I two tabled about half of the time, the rest of the time I played one table. I played NL for a bit one day and found out that the action points increase faster if you play NL due to the larger bets being wagered. If you fold preflop, you get zero action points unless you are the SB or BB. They are awarded based on how much money you put in the pot, whether you win or lose. I needed 13,500 action points to clear it which is 100 points per dollar. The deal you are talking about requires twice the action points per dollar to clear. I think it's a very reasonable bonus to clear, especially if you consistently played two tables or more. I've been fairly successful on Doyle's room as well. I'd give this bonus a shot. The only annoying thing about Doyle's room is it's one of those sites that when you raise, the dollar amount you choose is the raise amount not the whole bet. So if the pot is two dollars to you, and you want to raise it to four dollars, you have to choose two dollars on your bet meter because that is the amount you want to raise. I hate that shit.

As for the code, I have no idea.

Went to Books-A-Million at lunch and looked through several poker magazines (CardPlayer, All-In, Bluff), found some ads for Doyle's Room but none of them had the code for the 110% bonus.

I think I'm going to email them and ask where to find it and what the skinny is on the action points.

I've "heard" the bonus code is CSR110B but I cannot confirm this.

Email response from Doyle's Room:

"Once you download the software and hit the register button; you need to
type the code CSR110B in the "Referral Code" space in the registration
page. Deposit the full $500 and receive $550 plus a Free hardcover
collector's edition of Doyle Brunson's Super System 2."

BTW, the 110% bonus deal applies for amounts under $500, you just don't get the book.

More from the email I got from DR:

"Please note that you accumulate action points by playing at real money
ring tables; every cent you bet equals to one action point. It does not
matter if you win or lose; the more you bet the more AP's you earn. You
will also earn those by paying a tourney fee."

Doesn't seem too unreasonable.

So any pot that reaches $3 will distrubute the max. amount (300) of Action Points proportionally to whoever put money in the pot. That's not as bad as I thought.

Actually, I think you only get points for the portion you contributed to the pot.

So, if my math is right and you go after the max bonus of $550, you'll need to wager $1100.

I think it's going to take considerably more than that. That figure would be correct if there were an unlimited amount of points awarded per hand. But, they cap the points at 300 per hand. That's $3 in the pot. That's the antes in a $2/$4 game! Anything you put into the pot after that (as far as the points go) is just increasing your share of those 300 points.

For the purpose of clearing this bonus you would be better off finding a 6-max table full of rocks to maximize your share of the prize pool when you fold your blinds and that you could push around when you do catch a hand. If you're playing tight at a table full of maniacs that are capping it on every street you're going to have to play along with them in order to get any points. In this situation you'd only be getting a couple of points when you folded your blinds.

If you take it to the extreme -

Example: $2/$4 game full (10) table, you're in the big blind

Best case scenario: Everyone folds to you - $3 pot, point pool 300. 200 goes to you, 100 goes to small blind.

Worst case scenario: You fold PF and everyone else stays in. It gets capped on every street. $434 pot, point pool 300. 1 point goes to you, 33 points go to each of the other 9 players.

Yes, I know neither one of these scenarios is going to happen, but it does illustrate that you're not going to get a 1 cent to 1 point ratio on your wagers.

Its $3 rake that give the max points. If it gets folded to you in the BB, yes its a $3 pot, but no flop no drop, so no rake.

If you fold pre flop you get zero action points, I know for a fact. This bonus wasn't hard for me to clear at all. Not as easy as the party or empire reload bonuses but it is very reasonable. If you can at least two table 1/2 limit or .25/.50 nl you should clear it easily within two weeks. If you can play higher, you will clear it faster of course.
