Antonius on Poker After Dark this week...
For those who haven't seen him play yet, here is your chance. Patrick Antonius is on Poker After Dark this week, along with: Phil Ivey, Erick Lindgren, Jennifer Tilly, Jennifer Harman, and Phil Gordon.
Last night was the first episode and Antonius made a sick (IMO) call on the river one hand for a big pot... he played really well overall. Gordon is obviously quite a fan of Patricks, based on the comments he's made about him being "the chosen one" and so on. IMO, PAD is the best tourney-style poker show on tv, simply because they show every (or nearly every) hand. For once, you actually get to see everything. |

What surprises me most about this show is how passive everybody is. I don't know that I've seen that many 5way BB pots since $0.10 poker... Lots of min-raising too...
Anyone else find that weird from these guys? |

It's one thing to mix up your play a little bit, but these guy s are ridiculously passive, limping in with anything that resmebles a good starting hand... I ifind it strange, yes.

Do you think some of the groups have agreed to some sort of chop/deal? I know they are putting up the 20K (supposedly). But I wonder if they decided to chop it between say the last 3. That would explain the passive play early (not wanting to be one of the first who bust). Probably nothing to it, but it makes you wonder when you see players like Antonius, and even Gus 'anyhand' Hansen playing so passively/cautiously.

No way. The money is relatively insignificant to them. They just want to stick around to get more tv time.

I have to say - I think this week's match was quite possibly the best one I've seen so far. Sure, there were some donkey-ish plays (like JT's check on the river with the boat - but at least she realized after that it was horribly wrong) but there was lots of good action and some sick pseudo-comebacks.
What this table lacked it witty banter I think it made up for in watchable, enjoyable poker. |

LOL... that made me chuckle too. Any credibility Tilly had pretty much went out the window with that comment.

I wish it didn't resort to allins like that towards the end

Just saw this episode now.... OMG...worst check behind I have ever seen in my life by Tilly, and Ivey's look on his face was priceless....i would have had the same look KING KING??????? (cold call preflop, check call flop with overpair, check turn with set and check river with quads after it has been checked behind????????????)
And um...The Ac3c hand???????? Checking with TP then cold calling a bet and a raise with TP 3 kicker???? (after giving her hand away and almost folding it before calling lol. Then on the river another hour decision when ivey bets and she finally folds.... um WOW I didnt realize she was this bad....I mean wow

Although I sometimes find Hellmuth Matasuw and Tony annoying...watching them go after hellmuth is hilarious.
And, it's funny to see Ivey and Bloch just sitting at the end of the table in their own little world. One day, Ivey is just going to snap...it's gotta happen eventually.

Never happen. The WPT sets the FT structure for one simple reason. They don't want to have to edit 12 hours down to 80 minutes.
