Post Home Games and Drinking!!!!

Just wanted to ask if anyone has had any problems with allowing drinking at their home games. I am barely starting to get a crowd and I am a little concern. I allow drinking when it is family and friends but now I am holding tournaments with several people that I do not know but met once or twice. For this coming tournament I am allowing everyone to bring a 6-pack only; Am I being overly concern?

Thanks for any input.

Maybe, maybe not. I think, profit-wise, you want THEM drinking as much as they want, but if you feel uncomfortable that there are a bunch of out-of-control drunk guys that you don't know in you house (possibly pissed that they didn't hit that 2 outer against your AA) then I think you should either make a change...... or hire some bouncers for security

i dont think there i smuch problem with drinking at home games. if you dont feel comfortable with a bunch of people drinking at your house, you probably shouldnt be hosting the game in the first place, i think.

just pick the right crowd to come, and everything should be fine.

As long as people don't get out of hand i would say drink up. I have stopped drinking while playing cards cause i would always do something dumb. Have started to play a lot better now.

i definatly don't encourage drinking at my home games, but i don't argue with it. if someone gets out of control i have enough of my tight knit friends there to smack them down and kick them out. besdies, i like taking drunk people's money .

I'm in the over protective minority on this one, I would worry too much about people leaving drunk and smashing up thier car (or worse) on the way home. You just don't get a second chance on this type of thing sometimes.

I think I am sticking to the 6-pack per person and I am having quite a bit of munchies, just so that they have something to absorb the alcohol. The tournament should be about 3 hours.

Just don't let them get out of hand. Remember, if they get drunk under your supervision, and you allow them to drive home drunk, and they get into an accident. You are liable for them.

a 6 pack limit seems pretty reasonable, but lets say you have a big tourney that starts at 5pm and people finish their 6 packs by 7pm, and the tourney is an all-nighter. you might want to let them get more drinks after theyve had some time to let the last ones go through their system, some people might get pissed off from someone 'babysitting' them through an overnight poker game/tournament.

It depends. If the players were drinking beers, then whatever... but I would probably want them staying away from hard liquor. The players would enjoy themselves (more) if beer were involved.

Gotta be careful the stakes don't make or break anyone. Being buzzed and losing your lunch money may push someone over the edge.

We drink, but it's all close friends. Same group of guys every Wednesday.

I 'm done drinking though. Last Wednesday, I couldn't finish the game and had to quit and just break even.
