yeah, I was watching that game.
Good thing you guys have one of the easiest groups in the WC. And don't give me that shit about Sweden being a difficult opponent. That line of thinking proves my point. |

He broke the 3rd metatarsal in Euro 2004 and it took him 4 months to recover. No way is he healing and playing 6 weeks after this one. With that said, the Swede must still choose Rooney for the team and hope he can play in the second round.
All of a sudden, T&T is looking tough. |

Aww come on, dont take the piss
Rooney will be back in 5 weeks, the fracture aint as bad. We have who? Sweden, Trinidad, and Paraguay i think. WIth or without rooney we should win at LEAST the T&T and paraguay games. Sweden is always tough, always, nothing on Brazil but still tough. The attacking line up without the wonder kid will be - Joe Cole, Beckham, Lampard, Owen, Defoe. That aint bad man |

England is my second team, so I am hoping that they do well. Should be no problems getting through to the KO stage. Anyway, this way Rooney and Owen don't have to compete for the golden boot, my man Michael Owen will have it wrapped up by the third game. And I see by your attacking lineup you must have Gerrard holding in the MF?
And can I ask you something without getting you all pissy? It is my opinion that Beckham is a little washed up. I think one of the best things that is going to happen when Sven goes is that hopefully the new manager will cut Beckham and give the captaincy to either Terry or Gerrard. To his credit, Becks has learned to backtrack sometimes and play a little defense, but he his talents on a dead ball are overshadowed by the whole in the field he leaves whenever the ball is live. |

you have a point. You gotta make gerrard the captain when beckham goes, maybe even now.
BUt cutting beckham completely? HE can dribble a bit now, he can cut back, he can cross better than anyone in the world. Id keep him in till he gets to 35, then drop him |

Sweden is always a tough first round opponent. Then they make the knockout stages, tighten up and play like crap.

Good, then hopefully Becks can back up his statement that he would love to play in the US.

That would be great, assuming he is like Djorkaeff and takes playing here seriously.

Provisional squad:
Robinson (Tottenham), James (Manchester City), Green (Norwich); G Neville (Manchester United), Ferdinand (Manchester United), Terry (Chelsea), Cole (Arsenal), Campbell (Arsenal), Carragher (Liverpool), Bridge (Chelsea), Beckham (Real Madrid), Carrick (Tottenham), Lampard (Chelsea), Gerrard (Liverpool), Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Jenas (Tottenham), Downing (Middlesbrough), J Cole (Chelsea), Lennon (Tottenham), Rooney (Manchester United), Owen (Newcastle), Crouch (Liverpool), Walcott (Arsenal). Standby: Carson (Liverpool), Young (Charlton), Reo-Coker (West Ham), Defoe (Tottenham), Johnson (Crystal Palace). shocking......I am not too impressed with the defenders. Ferdinand, Cole, and Campbell are definitely all questionable at this point, either injury wise or mentally. Neville has got to be pretty old by now, and Bridge is suspect in his decision making. That just leaves Terry (a rock and potential captain) and Carragher (who played out of his mind in the CL last season, can he do it again?). I actually like the midfield, I think he picked some players that will play a role to allow Gerrard and Lampard work their magic. With this lineup I can really see England going with a 4-5-1, assuming Owen is fit. IN the midfield I can see Cole and Becks out wide, Gerrard and Lampard ravanging the middle and Carrick holding as a d-mid. edit- I had Hargreaves out of position in the role that Carrick should play Last edited by melioris; 05-08-06 at 06:50 PM. |

Anybody in the world cup run a 3 4 3 ? that's what i always run in Fifa, damned good scoring setup. And that's about the extent of my soccer knowledge

Holland is always 4-3-3 think thats the closest

Yeah, and holland are currently leaking at the back. The problem with 3-4-3 is as your using 3 strikers and 2 semi wingers, your gonna need 5 people to attack, keeping 2 of the middle 4 behind, problem then, if they come on the counter, your at 6 v 5, they will score too many.
4-4-2, or maybe a 4-1-3-2 i would use |

Italy uses 4-3-1-2
Brazil will be all over the place this year. Adriano, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Kaka will roam just about anywhere. |
