420
As straight laced as I am, I found it amusing that 420 was my bib number for my triathlon today. What did you think this thread was about?
I have done longer races in the past year, but today I returned to the try-a-tri that I started with last year. I did it again partly because OW was doing it for her first tri(and she finished, which was her goal), and partly because I wanted to see how much better I'd do after an actual season of training. 2007 39th of 70 overall 8 of 10 in my age group 55:03 total time 31st in 300m swim 5:38 34th in 11k bike and transitions 31:10 (21.2 km/h) 42nd in run 18:16 (6:06 /km) 2008 18th of 76 overall 5 of 9 in my age group 48:27 total time 7th in 300m swim 5:18 9th in 11k bike and transitions 27:30 (24.0 km/h) 48th in run 15:40 (5:14 /km) the run field was stronger this year I was very happy with this. I was second in the swim at the turn around around, but did so well in the transition that I was the first one to get on the bik course. I actually rode by the lead vehicle . My time as leader was gone about 90 seconds into the ride, but it was still very cool. Gott do speed work for the next run though. After I finished, I took a few minutes and then ran back out onto the course to find OW. I ran with her tot he finish. I am very proud of her. only beat on the day was that the swim location had moved. The course is shallow enough to dolphin dive most of it, and as a result, many of us slashed up our feet on zebra mussels. That's going to sting for a few days.

Congrats to both of you. Very cool!
Related: I've all ut given up on my running career... I really don't like it. But as you may recall, my bib number for my first 5k last year was also 420. |
