Betfair - Super Overlay?
Haven't seen it on this board yet. In Jan, several players on Betfair found out there was a bug in the software while playing SNGs. Basically if two or more players busted at the same time and were in the money, everyone busting out would get the paid the same amount for finishing as the top finishing (regardless of chip stacks before the hand).
So this was exploited by having players play in the biggest 6 handed SNGs. All 6 players would be all in very first hand. The winner of hands got paid first place money, and everyone else in the hand would end up with second place money. This was repeated several times. Betfair has since found out about the bug and are seeking back the money they have already paid out. Some players chip dump to others and some have already cashed out. Some of the transactions are not reversible and require the players to deposit back in order for Betfair to recover the money. Link to the story - |

Betfair's mistake = Betfair's Loss, IMO. I don't think they should recover a dime. I mean, maybe their software should work and be able to do the math required to split up a prize pool.
Thanks for poisting this. I wonder what "glitch" will be next for a major poker site? This seems to be a pretty big one. |
