Default First Tourny Win

Hello All.

After nealy 3 years of on-line poker I decided to have ago at a live game at my local casino, I entered a £20 no-limit texas tourny with 120 players with the casino guarantee of £3000 in the prize kitty.

After a couple of hours just playing very steady and not really taking any major chances I found that I was in the final 12 in 9th place, I made a decision that I wanted some prize money so I started playing very tight hoping to get in the last six.

As soon as I made the decision, I was dealt a pair of Queens and was in the big blind, the small blind raised from 800 to 4k which was half of his chips, I called (after sitting for a couple of mins thinking about it} and the flop was QQ3 we went all in and I took him out, next hand I was dealt 88 and just called the big blind the flop came 868 and I took him out after another 15 hands we were down to 5 players and I was in 3rd 62K chips. I was delighted to be in the money and stepped up my game I took a 20k pot over betting with 34 off suit (which I showed to the player who folded as he had been pissing off everyone with his no stop talk and remarks) and then straight after I went all in against 2 players who had only half my chips, one folded and the other (the mouthy guy) said I wasnt gonna bluff him again so he called, I had AJ diamonds he had A9 off suit no 9 came so off he went.

I soon found myself in the final 3 with double the chips of the other 2 and soon took both players out with a all in from everyone with me having 55 and a 5 coming on the flop. It was a great experience and after the nerves settled I played quite well, anyone who liked me only played internet poker should enter a live game, they are really quite good with the only downside being that the deals seem to take for ever.

Anyway thought I would share that experience with you, am off now to play online at PS and wish every1 here good luck.

Jim.

Nice. What was the take-home? Good string of cards like that, I'd tease you if you didn't win .

Congrats Jim, you must feel great. I don't know much about the conversion between L and USD - could you fill us in?

Thanks for the comments guys.

To answer some questions, the pay out was quite tight with only 6 places paid, the pot was £2400 with the house putting in another £600, I took 40% as the winner £1200 2nd took £720 3rd = £432 4th = £356 am not sure of 5th and 6th.

Judging by my pokerstars rates I think I won about $1750.

Lee on Solent is a lovely place, I often sea fish from there and a place called Hill Head not far from there.

Good Luck.

Jim.
