Default Advice for Sunday

I don't know about anyone else who has been staked for Sunday, but this is way bigger than anything I have played before.

Those of us who are in there know the mechanics of the game, but I would be interested in hearing from those with "big tournament" experience on things like...

deep-stack play...
early stage common goof-ups...

basically anything you might think is worth saying to someone who is going into a big tournament like this for the first time.

I am really getting geared up for this. I don't feel "intimidated", although the Karma of saying that will probably mean I'll have Annette O on my left the entire time.

Hey Storm, are you playing aswell?

Let the pearls of wisdom rain down like... well... pearls of wisdom.

Play it like a 5 dollar donkament. Its still that soft. It's also not very deep at all.

best advice i can give is dont get all worked up. Its just a tourney, 75% of the players are idiots in this, it a completely huge donkament.

That said - your all good players. Dont be mad, play your usual game, its not deeply stacked so its basically a huge normal tourney.

Last time i payed it i cashed, just, took about 3 hours.

Play a solid game as im sure you normally do and youll be fine.

Even though the buyin is $200, many people qualify to it.

Just play the same as any other low level donkament. Check PokerDB and SS stats of people at your table. Ill probably be watching most people that are playing to keep myself interested, so if I see anyone of interest at your table I will let you know in chat. Mostly players just qualify through Sattys and are playing higher than their norm too. Play is generally very passive. Biggest tip ever. Fold Kings Preflop, they always run into aces

I kind of have to agree with this. It's a LITTLE bit deeper and a LITTLE bit slower than your average online donkament, but not enough so that you should be significantly changing how you are playing.

If you were asking about a live 10k event, that would be one thing, but for this, seriously, just play your game.

In summary: Forget about the buy in. Play well.

I've never played anything this big either. But as everyone is saying, I was just going to play the game I normally play. From railing others at the Sunday Million, I have to agree, that it seems like a typical donkfest. The one thing that I think that will be the biggest difference is the pace (like TP said a little slower). It will definitely feel weird taking 3 hours or so to make it to the money when in a normal tourney for me, it takes approximately an hour.

2nded

oh and no I will not be playing as I don't like playing tournaments. I'll try to peek in every once in a while, although I may not even watch a single hand of this tourney.

When I get home Sunday night, I expect a nice rail thread for me to get caught up on how everyone did (and is still doing).

I wouldn't advise running Sharkscope during the tourney. It's on the list of banned SW by 'Stars.
