Default River Fold Getting 10:1 w/ a Set

5/10 NL

Two limps, Raise to $60, I call with 66 limpers call Pot $240

Flop: T86

Check, Check, PFR moves in for $250. I raise to $650. Limper calls, other limper folds. Pot $ 1790

Limper is a ultra donk, who calls down light and chases draws. He plays straight forward for the most part (bet when he has it, check call on draws/a medium piece, fold if empty)

Turn: J. Limper checks. I may check behind against some in this spot but not this villain. I bet $1100. Villain calls. Pot $3990

River 7 Limper moves all in for $455 (I wish I had noticed his stack on the turn, I would have just pushed -- but I doubt it'd have mattered)

Hero throws up and folds river getting 10:1

Short stack all in shows AA, Villain shows K2 and pats himself on the back for his brilliant flop/turn play

As a NL cash game I'd say you played that bad with 3 of a kind at a flop and you know the PFR is a donk.I would check the flop, he raises and I'll move All-in, but then again it would be a bad beat. But when you have the upper hand why did you leave him making a hand ??

umm... wow I don't know where to start. Normally I'd just leave it at "" but hell Im in the mood

- I couldnt check the flop because it got bet by the PFR

- Even if I could you want me to check raise a $175ish bet to $2000+ all in with a set?

- When the flop was bet I raised and was called.

- I bet the turn

- I cant control what cards come on the turn and river

I certainly don't have the online experince you got. What I get is from playing live games with friends every Thursday and from reading books I read like 4 Books about NLHE.I guess the only way from preventing that happenning is Huge bet/reraise at Flop that would make him fold, anyway he could have called and fished for a flush. What do you think about ?
As I said you are better than me of experince but thats my 2 cents

That what i meant and All-in here would make it better than calling his 400$ on the river because of the pot odds.

Usually I want people to put their money in with 20% when they have no odds to chase. IDK about you, perhaps you don't like money.

i liked how u played it zybomb. i think u played it correct i have no idea why that guy chased his draw that hard. i think the turn bet is better if u push him all in but looking how he played the hand he wasnt going anywhere. sucks how chasers get rewarded like that tough luck but i think u played the hand great.

The turn bet should have been an all in if for not other reason(s) than to:

-Make the guy make a bigger mistake if he decided to chase. Yes, he would have been more likely to fold, but it was a pretty huge pot already and I have to think you would have been happy to take it down. Mathematically, if he turned his cards face up and asked if you wanted him to call or not (if you have shoved), of course you should tell him to call... But in reality, if he folded right there, I doubt you'd be too pissed off about it. This is exactly why people "do business" in really big games.

-Not give yorself a chance - no matter how small - of folding the best hand for that last 10:1 bet on the river. That would be a HUGE mistake. I know it seems very obvious that we were beat here, but 10:1 is a LOT. Yeah, you can say you were 98% sure you were beat, but were you really? I doubt it. People bluff (even in retarded spots like this) more than 2% of the time. In fact, bluffing here would be correct if he thought he could get you to fold the best hand just 10% of the time! Think about it...

Hypothetical: Say you were getting 20:1 on the end (if his bet was half as much as it was)... Do you still fold?

(And yes, I realize that you would have shoved the turn if you had noticed his stack, Zy - This response was more for the people who agree with exactly how you played it)

I agree with this post entirely -- as for the 20:1 jesus, i dunno... i think especially against this opponent (who wouldnt be clever enough to bluff this) Im really good < 2% of the time... id probably just throw up on the table and see what happens
