Default Qutting ... for now.

Well, I'm taking a break from online poker.

My weenie roll, which started at $29, is over $200, and it's sitting on Party. I'm in the process of clearing a "weenie" bonus, and when I'm done doing that, I'm cashing out. Already half-done the raked hands requirement, I can easily finish up either tonight or tomorrow night, multitabling.

Studying for the bar exam is the hardest thing I've ever had to do academically, and I need to start eliminating the distractions in my life. Poker is a big one. On a daily basis, I'm finding myself more and more stressed out ... at the 10 hours per day I have to study, at the possibility of failing and re-taking the exam, money issues from not having a job, etc.

I plan on visiting TP and RGP on a daily basis, but my post count will start dropping off more and more as the exam gets closer and closer. I can't get involved in strategy discussions anymore, because honestly, my brain hurts at the end of the night, and giving poker advice is something I can do w/out. Geoff / Brian: have fun overtaking my post count.

You're going to see much less of your favorite resident asshole, but I'm sure there are others who would love to fill the spot.

I have also decided to take a break at the end of the month from poker, but not from this site.

I am studying to be an insurance broker, so I feel for you Lou. I study a good solid 3-4 daily, broken up in about 1-1.5 hour increments, coupled with my consistent 5 hours sleep a night max.

Good luck to you Lou, and I hope once you have passed you will be back aboard and overtake me once again (I use to be 2nd to TP).

I will only post at work now myself LOL, since this is where I get the most of my spare time these days .

Default Be a Kennedy!

Lou,

As a resident of the great state of Massachusetts I say to you: Be A Kennedy. These great political figures have all failed their bar exams and I think you should follow in their footsteps. Good Luck! Happy Failing!

I feel for you Aeq... studying for the Florida bar exam was the worst month of my life! But I did lose about 10 lbs. in the process, gotta look at the positives. If you want a little bar exam study advice just let me know and I'll shoot you a PM.

Good for you Lou. The game is always there, and if you aren't careful, it can eclipse other priorities very easily. I predict the break will do you good -- you'll come back rested, sharp and focused, ready to build a roll. Good luck.

Default Thanks...

... for everyone's words of encouragement. It's more stressful than I imagined. If you can even believe it, I've been MORE of a dick and MORE crabby than ever. Yikes!

The bar, for me, is three days because I'm testing for PA and NJ. The final day is the 28th, and believe you me, that will be an interesting night.

If I didn't have higher priorities, I wouldn't feel like I need a break. I've been very pleased with my "game" as of late, and I wonder how rusty I'll be when I finally re-deposit. Oh well - gotta do what ya gotta do.

after today i am quitting as well....dont know for how long but i lost 1/2 my roll today. i know, im a tilter, but i lost a huge pot with KK vs 77 all-in pre-flop he rivered a seven.... lost when i flopped the nut straight and he rivered his boat (he moved in with 2pr i insta called)... 1/2 my fucking roll!!

i probably lost about 1/10th of it by being mad and stupid...and the rest from the poker gods striking me down...

Welcome back. I was wondering what ever happened to you.

What were your reasons, if you don't mind me asking? If they were personal (non site related), no need to explain...

That sucks, man.... but if you lost 1/2 of your roll on a single hand, I think it's safe to say you were sitting down with more than 5% of your roll.... Now you know why people recommend not doing that.

Yes, it is.

Cashed out $248. Couldn't take the bonus free and clear because of a few river beats. It happens. At least I don't have to put up with that for a while. Thanks again for your encouragement.

gl man. I know how much pressure can be involved in studying going to Georgia Tech. Finals weeks there are the worst things I have ever experienced in my life. So if I multiply that pain by say 17, I get a feel for the suffering. At least I know what studying ten hours a day is like, but I have never done it for over a month straight. Just remember what happens at the end dude, always helps for me. One month is small amount of time to sacrifice for bar.

I too cashed out everything I got, lost about 2/3 of my roll. yes I was sitting down with more than 5%. got annihilated by 3 sets in like 1 hour. So i cashed out my remaing 210 something and will use it for my girfriends 21st party. Hopefully I will still have reason to hang out here
