Default Keeping Records

I never used to keep any poker records or anything, but starting December 1st I decided I wanted to start keeping records so I could find out where most my money was coming from.
I have been recording every Tournament and Every Sit N Go and recording my bankroll at the beginning and end of each day. All that is going fine, but most my $ comes from cash tables, and I don't really know of any good way to track that - do any of u guys keep records of ur cash tables ?
I don't really see a point of it but maybe I'm missing something.

The first point is having accurate records to pay your taxes by. The second point is knowing where your roll stands and if you're up or down.

PokerTracker pretty much does that for you. You do realize that don't you? I dont' understand how you can say, "I don't really know of any good way to track that."

Why WOULDN'T you want to keep a record of your play? The only one I can think of is for a losing player to keep "tricking himself" into thinking he's not losing money.

Precisely.

I can't think of a good reason for JD though. You "should" record every session you play - the date and time, what site, what game, what limit, how many hands you played, and your net win/loss (MINIMUM). I also like to record my stats for each session (depending on the site), etc, but like pshabi said, PT will do all of this for you....

You DEFINITELY need to know your totals for each game/limit though - how else are you going to know where your money is coming from, where you might have leaks, and so on?
