Life-long sox fan
This is not my father;s red sox organization. In any other year, there is no way we could win this game after walking so many guys and commiting 4 ERRORS!!!! Those errors led directly to 3 runs, and the other one put a guy on 2nd with 2 outs who was then driven in, and another run scored in that inning too. So you could say that the errors led to 5 runs for the cards.
The Red Sox are not supposed to win those games. In years past, Bellhorn's 8th inning game winning home run would have gone foul by about an inch...and then he would have hit into an inning ending double play. Also, in the top of the 8th, the umps really helped us out on the Edmonds strike out...that last called strike was a dubious call...at best. To win that game with Wakefield starting, we really helped ourselves out...considering St.Louis hasnt lost at home in the playoffs yet, I didnt feel comfortable at all going there tied 1-1. We got the Wakefield game out of the way, and now I hope we get the Game 6 Schilling from the yankees series...and not the Game 1. The Sox have now had game winning or tying runs in the 8th inning or later in 4 out of our 8 wins so far in the playoffs....I mean, that stat always went to the other team against us in the playoffs. There's no way in hell I'm about to jinx us by making any predictions that we will win...but lets just say I like our chances. LETS GO RED SOX!!!!! |

i cant exactly rest easy yet, but i feel great about the sox right now.
i mean, they cant exactly play worse than they have so far defensively, and their bats and bullpen have been great. pedro may be shaky in game three, but i think the sox will still win, just as payback for the crappy performances that suppan gave us last year. go sox. |

and after all, they are the only team in history to come back from being down 3-0 in a series... this is our year, go SOX

Agreed.
I'm a Phillies fan, so I really don't care. Part of me wants to see the Sox win it - because I think they deserve it this year, BUT, another part of me hates to see a curse die. Already up 2-0; I'd be really surprised if they lost the whole thing.

i cant wait for pedro to pitch tomorrow night. going with a little extra rest, i can really see him pitch a gem, especially because the cards lineup hasnt come close to putting it all together yet.

pedro always pitches better in warm weather, so him going game 3 instead of 1 or 2 isnt as bad as i originally felt...with a rested bullpen, its even better. Hopefully Francona wont feel obligated to leave him out there too long.
All that being said, the cards are a totally different team at home. And their lineup wont stay quiet for long. Going up 2-0 was absolutely huge for us, considering the cards havent lost at home yet in the playoffs |

For all I know, you've been a Boston fan your whole life. So, don't take this as an attack on you... but there are WAY too many people who claim to be "Red Sox fans." A lawyer in court today was wearing a Red Sox tie. Ugh.
"St. Louie in 7, eh?" He laughed.

3-0 baby
pedro was absolutely dominant tonight. he definitely got a little help early on from the cards baserunning, but he was on. how surprising is it that manny and ortiz were the ones to make the big throws during the game? always nice to see those guys do something with the glove, because they have always done it with the bat. |

One more win away from hopefully never having to hear 1918, curse, blah, blah, blah again

no kidding
the one thing i am asking for right now, other than the sox to win the series, is to not hear any yankees suck chants if we win. i have no problem with hearing that chant when we are playing against the yankees, but againsteveryone else it is just idiotic. hopefully we dont have to hear that if we win, because it isnt all about the yanks. |

Oh we have a whole bunch of new chants for the yankees next year....you can pick and choose from, "Who's your daddy"..."2004"... "Overpaid" and if Brown ever pitches in Fenway, "Keeeevin...Keeeevin..." will be loud and proud
God I love this team |

He got the last 13 or so Cards in a row....somebody used a time machine and brought the 1999 Pedro to pitch in the 2004 series....and god bless em for it

to steal a line from the sports guy, pedro got hooked up to the juvenation machine before tonights game.
as for chants for the yankees, what with how ortiz has played against them all year, playoffs especially, i think the "who's your papi" chant is the best of the bunch. |

Blasphemy
Blasphemy.....he got hooked on the RE-juvenation machine. The regular juvenation machine is for guys who have never done anything big for years, and all of a sudden they start comeing up huge...i.e. Matt Haselback last yeay

All is forgiven, I too was a BSG reader. As long as some obscure cardinal like Reggie Sanders goes on to hit 6 dingers and single-handedly win 4 games for em

Pedro pitched an absolutely unbelieveable game, bouncing back after a rough 1st inning. Sox will win this thing, just wonder what game.
Next year: Pedro to the Yankees You will also likely see Randy Johnson go there. But the Yankees need to dump that aging talent soon. Kevin Brown is a leach for Steinbrenner's wallet, Sheffield never should have been signed (would have left a spot for Beltran).

I doubt Pedro will go to the Yankees, for one the whole damn team hates him....for two, the Sox will make an effort to resign him, and as long as he doesnt want 17 million anymore, i bet they can come to an agreement that works for both parties. Especially if we seal the deal and win the series.
If I'm not mistaken, Randy is under contract next year, and if the Yankees didnt have enough in their farm system to trade for him this past year, I doubt they will be able to this winter. I truely don't think money is of any concern whatsoever to Steinbrenner...i bet he will spend whatever he needs too after the debacle of blowing a 3 game lead to the Sox. And that means Beltran, if he wants to play in New York...which is up in the air. Pavano is another name to watch, the sox are gonna go after him too, especially if pedro goes.....(anahiem is a possibility for pedro too) And no, im not pulling this out of my ass....just repeating what selected pundits have been speculating |
