Default Stars $2.5MM 5 AM...

So, I was just bouncing around Stars, checking out their WCOOP and EPT sattys (I may try for London soon - looks good), and I clicked on the $2.5 million thingee you guys were all talking about last week. I hadn't really paid attention to it, because it seemed like a total crapshoot (and I hate that it's only 10 FPPs to enter), but I looked at it closer tonight.

First, I see they had a Round 2 event earlier today where 320 of the 1239 entrants advance to Round 3. That should be pretty easy to do. I also see that for Round 3, you need to finish in the Top 9. 1-5 make it to the final and 6-9 get a WPT PCA package - that's pretty sweet.

So.... in order to get to Round 2, you have to get through Round 1 - the crapshoot. In Round 1, you need to finish in the Top 50, regardless of the number of entrants, to advance. Obviously, the less people registered, the better. Well, guess what? It seems on weekends, like tonight, they run a 5 AM ET tourney. Last night's had just 2600 players! Yes, that's still only 1 winner in 50, which sucks, but 2600 beats the hell out of 7600-10k, like the tourneys at other times have.

5 AM ET is only 2 AM here, which is in 30 minutes... I'm tired and feel like going to bed, but I'm going to go for it anyway. I think my plan will be to push all in with any reasonable hand and try to double up 2-3 times. If I bust, so be it, but if I can get to like 5x the starting stack, then I'll play it out and try to get into the Top 50.

For anyone who lives on the other side of the world where 5 AM ET is a reasonable time of day, you should keep an eye out for these.

My AQ ran in to QQ.

It was worth a shot.

Yea i thought the same exact thing, round one is total bullshit. But what I like is you cannot buy directly into Round 2 and Round 3 events if you wanted to. Being you will have legitimate players in the 2nd and 3rd round events. I played in one of them a few nights ago and managed 300th out of 7k or so. But the first hour was just horrendous, its a freeroll so i dont expect much. Your strategy seems like the best way of making it happen.
